I never thought of using super glue. Using both original and super ZMans, I crimp mine and then add a drop of melted solder - never had a problem, though, before or after my modification.

Z-man, I've caught fish up to and over 7 with no problems with the snaps on the original, but quit buying your product because I could never keep a skirt up on the baits. Have there been or are there any plans in the works to improve that collar?

Have you improved the hook on the original bait? I bought several and I can bend the hook easily with my fingers easier than a coat hanger. Where the hooks not heat treated?

I will agree with you on the hook ez, but I have never felt like I had any fish come unbuttoned due to it. It reminds me of the hook on a rattleback jig. You can pull it open EASY, but I've caught some big ol' pigs with it.

Regarding the hooks on the Original ChatterBait, we've upgraded to a new custom needle point 5/0 hook in the last few years that is definitely better than some of the hooks that were used in the past. Due to the fact that the blade is attached to the hook eye, the hooks cannot be tempered 100% as the hook eye will become very brittle when it is closed after the blade is attached. However, the less you temper the hook, the more flexible it is, so it's a balancing act between retaining hook eye strength and maintaining a hook without too much flex. We really feel that we've struck a good balance with the hook that we're currently using. Because of the way it is tempered and how it is forged at the bend, it doesn't flex nearly as much as previous versions and is strong at the hook eye. It is also much sharper than the hooks we used in the past.

Thank you for the feedback on the skirts and the collar. We will look into having the molds modified to prevent this from happening.

If you have any other questions, concerns, or feedback on our products, please feel free to shoot us an e-mail at info@zmanfishing.com. We don't routinely look at message boards like this, so that's the best way to get in touch. We definitely value your feedback and comments. Thanks!
