Anyone know of the water cleared up yet?

Anyone know of the water cleared up yet? I just drove over there to look myself. I've been out of town all week, and I hadn't seen the creek in a while, so I decided to see for myself. It's still very stained. The level of the water is pretty much down to pre-rain levels. There's a light rain falling right now. Still people out there fishing though. Will probably take another couple of days at least if we don't get much more rain tonight and tomorrow.

I just pass by the bike trail to see what the little rain does to the creek. It very muddy water and running but still very low. Lots of cars at Miller Rd but didn't see anyone catch anything. Bike trail as of 7pm

So just to know. Why is it not good to go after a rain? Besides mud.

So just to know. Why is it not good to go after a rain? Besides mud. A good rule of thumb is for every inch of rain (avg of area) wait 1 day. 2" of rain, wait 2 days. As stated earlier, the water is the color of coffee with cream. This time of year flushes the snakes out. All the critters that drowned are floating into Hubbard. All the storm sewers that feed Rowlett are flushed. The current is probably the biggest issue. Rowlett's normal flow is around 100cfs. A good flood will get it up over 2000cfs. The rain a couple days ago got it to 1750cfs. The creek rose to 11'. Couple of years ago, creek got to 22'. I think the flow was 3300cfs. If you happen to slip and fall in... BRING A ROPE !!!!!!!

So are you considering this a good thing or bad thing that the snakes are flushed out?
Mullet does it best.

So are you considering this a good thing or bad thing that the snakes are flushed out? Neutral. Some people will do crazy stuff to get away from snakes. Seen guys jump in creek to get away from snake on the bank.

Well we are getting a good rain in Mesquite. The bad news is Rowlett creek will be not be fisherable until Wednesday. The good news is it will be game on come Wednesday. I know many of you will go Monday and Tuesday but you will be wasting your time. The flow is going to super strong and they water will be like coffee. Please use extra precaution when fishing the creek. I don't want see EMS have to remove any bodies.

Yeah, and I'll tell you...it's a sinking feeling (literally) when you are standing on that steep bank and you start sliding......in slow motion, and yet you can't get a grip of any kind and there aren't any tree roots or branches to grab hold of and there you are standing there with your expensive fishing gear and your cell phone in your pocket and your wallet and what not going in. And there's nothing you can do about it. The danged bank is steep and the mud is like grease when saturated.
One other thing to stress I haven't seen mentioned much here lately, that a newcomer might not have thought of, go get you some shoes with cleats off a clearance rack somewhere. You'll look kinda goofy wearing them, but they'll make a HUGE difference in your ability to walk down in the creek-banks.
And thank the Lord for the rain. We sure need it!

+1 on Wednesday. I went yesterday and scouted areas all over the creek. It was still pretty stained south of miller. The farther upstream, the more stained the water. Around the firewheel area it was still a little high and coffee&cream. Fish are there. They'll still be there Wednesday. If the waters still a little stained Wednesday, go with a darker lure. I used a black bobby garland yesterday and did alright. Fish shut off as the rain set in. Caught 15 sandbass, 2 channel cats, and 1 crappie. They should be everywhere now.
