My Dalmatians go with me & my daughter. They're 70#. I guarantee they'd make your pooches seem like savants in comparison!

man thats a big dog in a kayak. my female loves to fetch and tries to retrieve every cast for you. my male would probably just try to lay in my lap the whole time. hes a snuggler. lol
nice wooden yak too. that looks sweet.

cool pics! unfortunatly my idiots are 65 and 90 lb shepherds. little big for kayaking buddies. maybe one day someone will make a miniture shepherd breed then i will have a yakking buddy. I have an Australian Shepherd that would be a great size on a kayak. The only issue is that it would be about like taking a 2-year-old. She would never stop moving. Jump in the water, make you drag her back out, run from one end of the boat to the other for 3 hours. Sit on your lap. Jump in the water...you get the picture.

Cool pics. I'm in the first stages of turning my rott-shepherd mix into a yakking dog, or at least a canoeing dog. This is a short write up of my first attempt: click. It didn't exactly go very well, but I suppose it could have been worse.

Kinda funny actually... I haven't been on the forum in a while because I got a new pup that I have been working on training, basically every weekend for some time. Last weekend I decided now that the winter is over and I have him mostly respondent to my commands that I would start working on teaching him to kayak. Thought to myself that I hadn't checked the forum in a while and I find this Anyhoo, Archer is a 7 month old Boxer, roughly 45lbs and fits pretty well in the rear tank well of my OK Speck. So I worked with him today for about 30 minutes just getting him comfortable sitting on the kayak with and without me on there, sitting on the kayak while I dragged it, shook it, made it as tipsy as I could while getting him to stay and he did well. So, tomorrow we will be heading out to Texoma to try it out. Ill let you guys know how it goes.. Anyone is welcome to join if they want to try and teach their pooch to paddle Ill be at Sandy Point day use area around 1ish... Its on the far north end of Hagerman. Here's a couple pics of us working today

Awesome guys. Thanks for the posts. Y'alls dogs are great. I went out yesterday with my boy and best friend to shoot some stuff for Yak Angler. Looks like they found some else to write the story. Which probably better for them. Less editing. Well here's a little taste of my dog Sam with my buddy Josh.
