No typo. It is 25 miles up there where the fish are.

I was just there fishing a club tourney and I can say Amistad is finally coming around. 2 day 10 fish 21lbs to win it. Not a great weight but much better than it has been. There a lot of males to be caught off beds so the females aren't far behind. Every drain we hit in the backs of coves we would catch a couple males. Most our fish were caught on pumpkin/chartreuse tip senko wacky rig. Did catch a few on 6xd and dt10 cranks.

No typo. It is 25 miles up there where the fish are. So your saying the fish are 25 miles above Box Canyon ?? That would put them above the panther caves !! I believe we have had this discussion before.. The CHANNEL markers on Amistad are not MILE markers... If you will LOOK on a lake map. They do not correspond with the actual miles from the dam... There is NO WAY that it's a mile from marker 5 to 6 or from 6 to 7 etc. etc. According to the map It's 25 miles from the DAM to the start of Zuberbuler bend. If you run the buoys and don't cut any corners... According to Google It's not near that far..

Except that's still just 10.5 pounds a day... same as the last few months for most two day events.. 9- 10 pounds a day.

It is tough fishing on the main lake. Go to Box Canyon to put in then make the 25 mile run up the river. You will see the Mexico Hunting Lodge on the left up there about 2 more miles on the Mex. side start fishing about half way back in every cove. Spend about 30 min. on each side of the coves. If nothing is happening keep going up river to the next one and etc.
Just for the record---By the map it shows to be 18 miles from Box to the above mentioned lodge.. By Google it's about 16 Nautical miles... Just want to clear that up in case someone might be thinking they don't have enough fuel or time to make a 50-60 mile round trip. Go for it. It's not as far as some think it is.

Just got back. Points and secondary points for big fish and shallow bucks cruising all over the shallows. They'll be in the grass if you can find it. Most of our fish were caught on senkos. It got progressively better each day and should be rockin by next full moon. There's nothing wrong with the water. All the fish we caught were healthy and we're pulling hard
