Plenty of shallow water to fish. Plenty of laydowns on main lake and in the creeks. Many good flats in back of creeks. Also many flat points on main lake and creeks. Don't let the deep water freak you out! In July, you might try topwater early and late. Use your graphs to find deep fish. Try drop shot or jigging spoons like a flee-fly.

+1 on the top water bite. Fished with a guide one year in late May and had a blast with top waters. Don't be surprised if you pull up a Waleye too. If you're interested in a guide, I recomend Bryce Archie of Broken Bow Guide Service.

day 1 - 1 lmb

Not seeing many bed fish. Where do the smallies spawn?

Rocks, flats, points...deep, shallow?

I want to catch a smallie. Any ideas?

Thanks!

hit rocky points and pull your bait across them, use a hula grub, redeye shad, jig/craw. rocky banks with a shallow (5-20') fall off and go up the river too, smallies like current.

Hopalong is correct. Wife and I caught a bunch yesterday. Mainly flat points. Green pumpkin finesse worm. Not sure what a hula grub is. Biggest bass came on a crawdad square bill. Even caught a few on a fluke.

day 2

1 lmb swimbait
1 lmb square bill red
1 lmb jerkbait
2 striper
2 crappie

0 smallies.

Saw several lmb on beds. Fished shallow by Carsons.

What depths, do the smallies spawn? Should they be moved up on beds yet?

Put the puzzle together. Absolutely murdered the large mouth. Going back next week, still hunting a smallmouth. Anyone heading up there next week wanting to swap info, pm me.
