The pond is at BNSF Railroad facilities. Must be an employee, family or guest to fish there.

must have a BNSF i.d. tag on you too.. Security guards down there all the time.. I work for BNSF...you're better than I gabby...never could catch a catfish out of there...caught plenty of Bass... The size of those carp in there are unreal...some have to be 40 lbs or better... Gabby, I wouldn't worry about keeping the catfish... Would just throw the Bass back. I wouldn't say anything. smile

gabby,

i sent your pics to a guy at the tpwd fishery. here's his reply and info:

The photo looks like a channel catfish to me. This type of deformity (upper jaw reduced) is rare, but not extremely rare. We sometimes see this with largemouth bass and striped bass fingerlings, but I have never seen it with catfish. I do not know whether this is more likely due to genetics or environmental conditions, or if we even know.

I will pass your email forward to our Fish Health and Genetics laboratory director (Loraine Fries) for her opinion.

In general, if anglers are concerned about disease or deformed fish they should contact the local fisheries biologist, but just one or two strange fish is no cause for alarm. Like the human population, there will always be some uniquely shaped fish in a fishery.

In the case of seeing a significant number of sick, dead, or malformed fish, TPWD would like to know ASAP.

Thanks,
Gerald
