I would peg a 1/4 tx rig powerworm and let if fall down the tree top. Slow fall nice action in the tail. Works wonders.

Slider rig, 1/6th weight, worm or liz. Cast into top of trees let it fall on slack line count to 10, no strike, reel in cast again, repeat.Works well.

My first choice would be a crankbait. Next, wind permitting, I would throw a weightless senko. Had pretty good success at Amistad with suspended fish in deep trees doing this.

+1 with the senko. I didn't have much confidence in them until I made myself use one all day last year. Caught my record bass and 3 casts later caught my new record bass . Trees are always fun but I fish stillhouse and thats all we have

Just toss a worm or jig into the trees. Use the tree limbs to keep boat in tree just work it up and down keeping it in strike zone. Or throw a 6xd

I had a buddy that was always fishing the trees, if it had been the ones under water it wouldn't have been so bad.

Maybe they weren't bass! Try a crappie jig!

Jay,
Umbrella rig. Very interesting. I don't have one yet. But assuming I buy a couple, one for me and the other for the wife. After rigging it, I would need to find an area without hangups and known depth(10') and count it down to see how fast it falls then work it at the magic depth. Can it be fished effectively at 15' or greater in trees. My lure retriever pole would not reach it if it hung up. I dont know if I could take the rod whipping my wife would give me if I hung it up.
Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff.

Phish,
I tried several colors of crappie jigs. No takers. I think they are bass because they are singular fish holding close to the trees. I see them on sidescan, but when I position the boat directly over the fish it moves off and suspends over open water. Leave the area for 30 minutes and the fish is back in this instance. I spent approximately 2 hours playing with this fish because it appears much larger than others I graphed.
