Yes, some jack or Methhead stole my bearing protectors from my trailer yesterday. Keep eye out for the loser.

It's easy to pump them up too much with grease and have them come off on the way to the lake

Freshly filled bearing buddies can build up some pressure and "deploy" if not properly seated on the axle. Centrifugal action can help too.

possible, but they had not been greased in several trips unless the warmer temps had something to do with it.

I know it's just a matter of time. I wonder if lakes will ever be proactive about security.

Some years back,I was fishing at Tawakoni and arrived before daylight.Parked my older Suburban and locked it up.When I cam back from weight in found that it had been broken into and the only things taken were some tools and worst of all,24 cans of Bud Light.I waited for the deputy to show up to get a report for insurance and he said that he knew who did it and it was the Mayor's Son.Wouldn't do any good to press charges because the father would throw out the case.Never went back to Tawakoni.

I've know bearing buddies (not just the bra) to come off if the bearing nut is loose, letting too much play in the wheel.

I tell people about this type of stuff all the time... don't keep anything shiny or attractive in your vehicle where someone can see it EVER -- I have gotten my window broken for a dollar in the cup holder. If a thief sees anything resembling money or something that will get them high or help them get high, then they WILL break in... If there is absolutely nothing out in the open in your vehicle, they assume there isn't anything hidden and move on. If they see something like a card with a magnetic strip (whether it is a library card or a debit card), they will break your window in a split second...

Any chance they fell off? We found a ton of transom savers and bearing buddies at the end of our ramp during the drought (when we extended our boat ramp) I just don't see someone taking the risk to steal a bearing buddy...I have had my hitch stolen idk how many times. Bought a super duty keyed pin this time though

Wouldn't surprise me thieves will take anything that's not bolted down. I once lived in a [censored] neighborhood, in the span of a few months I had a jug of used antifreeze, a jug of waste oil, several empty cans of Copenhagen and a toy from one those 25 cent machines stolen from my truck or yard. Finally caught one of them breaking into the the neighbors garage, didn't shoot though cause the one shell of 00 buck would have cost more to replace than all the stuff they stole from me combined.
