Formula462,
I remember someone saying on another forum or youtube video that if the voltage drops below 11.7 volts the units will shut down or blink on or off. I would bet your battery is about ready to be replaced. What is your voltage output?
Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff.

Well I didnt check it, its new and first time to have been hooked up so I guess I should start with that, making sure its charged. I thought the ffers could run on 8v?

The timing looks the exact same to me, I think your just not looking close enough at the distance. The volts will cut off at 10 volts but I had problems when I hit 11v and my wiring was undersized, fix your problem before you burn of the graph to low power.

I just trying to make my way through this thread and you guys are so far ahead of me my head is busting. I have a real easy question. Just bought a boat with an HDS5 in the console, and I just got my HDS8 installed, can I move the HDS5 to the bow and use a Ethernet cable to the structure scan box and share with the HDS8?
Also does it need to be a Gen2 and if so how do I tell, it just says HDS5 on the front.

Chet, yes use an Ethernet cable and all info will share. Even a few of the older models will share info with a HDS. Doesn't matter what gen it is. You will know if it's a gen 2 because it will be written on the outside of the case and it will be a dark grey (almost black). The gen 1's are regular grey.

One last question, will it be using the HDS8's transducer/black box and not needing it's own? Thanks

I went over a sand bar the other day and was barely able to get off it. The bottom of my boat drug bottom. Ever since then my hds10 gen2 doesn't seem to read right. It looks as though there's a lot of prop wash and the DI doesn't seem to be as clear as before and it shows the bottom to be almost white instead of a darker color like before. It seems to be cloudy. The side scan seems to work ok although it doesn't show fish or bait fish like it used to and it shows what seems to be a lot of prop wash. I inspected, cleaned and adjusted the transducer. Nothing seems to be wrong. What could I have done?

Chet, you can attach up to 3 graphs to a 1 LSS black box. The info on the bow will be from the back of the boat but it's still usable info, I ran my boat like that for a year.
Coach JC, I've read your post over at BBC too and I can't figure out what would cause the problem you are having. It just doesn't make sense.

I've been reading some that in shallow water DI doesn't work very well?
Obviously I was in shallow water and may have just noticed how bad it was after that and got paranoid. I thought it may have had some mud on it biput it's clean and doesn't appear to be any damage what so ever. The transducer is mounted slightly above the bottom of my boat. I font think it touched it other than maybe changing the angle of it and then I really changed it when I pulled it up to inspect it and clean it. I adjusted the angle of it trying to compensate for bow lift

Next time press the "exit" button one time. Anytime you happen to move the crosshairs you will have to press "exit" to get the graph back to the screen that moves. I'm not sure why it would have been on another lake unless you might have moved it last time out or maybe you were at that lake last trip out. Anyways, exit button should take care of that.
