Fished Hickory Creek with my fly rod late this morning for a few hours. It was my 3rd time fishing the creek, but the first time I caught anything. Got my 1st sand bass on the fly rod. Just a little 10" dink, but it was cool to catch it on a fly I tied. Looking forward to more tight lines after this rain today. Saw about 20 other fisherman...

My son and I walked by a fly fisherman on the trail this morning - maybe that was you. We only caught three (two whites and one largemouth) and only saw one other fish caught by anyone else.

I plan in going tomorrow... not sure where to go... Any pointers? I would like to try for some Sandies, but anything really would be nice.

Fished the creek late this afternoon for about 1.5 hours with my fly rod. Caught 2 - 13" male sand bass just upstream of some riffles. Water is flowing and is still muddy. Saw about 8 other fisherman.

You may want to try 2499 bridge area. I plan in going tomorrow... not sure where to go... Any pointers? I would like to try for some Sandies, but anything really would be nice.

I would avoid the bridge for a few more days, I went and scouted today with just a single rod and went up stream about a mile and a half and the water is extremely muddy. The clarity was 6 inches at most.

Fly fished the creek this afternoon. Caught a handful of perch, 1 LMB, and 6 sand bass stripping a bonefish gotcha (white and pink). Met several TFFers. Real nice folk.

Hit this spot as well yesterday. walked about a mile down, hit some real nice pools, but only scored 1 11' male.
Also walked a mile & a half to hit the mouth of Doe branch, & cottonwood creek with no results.
I'm pretty sure a run on this lake isn't gonna happen without rain. hickory is probably the best bet, as it appears to be the only unpoisoned creek with enough water @ the mouth to let fish up.

Today was baby makin day on Hickory Creek. Could see pools just boiling with swirls and groups of fish chasing each other around in the shallow rapids, sometimes they'd be right up against my feet/legs while I was standing in the current and not stop the business they were attending to. Most of them were not interested in eating but did manage 7, all keepers with a few going right around 16 inches. Also caught about a 12 inch black crappie. Definitely need more rain, stopped at the rapids under the concrete bridge and saw at least 10-12 sandies try and fail to make it past the rocks, just too much of a step up for them to get thru.
