i had my motor run out of oil due to being dumb and not checking the oil levels before a tournament. i was on plane when i started to lose power. shut it down to an idle and instantly started to hear a knocking noise so i shut it down and started to troll in. filled with oil and the flywheel locked up. thinking i should go ahead and get a new powerhead just not sure how serious it is right now. any ideas would help. thanks

You gaulded a piston. Why didn't the low oil warning work?

I really do not know. I have a low oil light that always flashes even when the oil tank was full so I disregard that and just planned on hearing a warning but never did. Would a gauled pistion call for a new powerhead?

It could be resleaved and new pistons and bearing but would probably be more than just buying a new one. I would get whoever works on it find out why the oil alarm didnt work too.
