1/4 oz jig with a creature bait is as light as I can go with a jig. That combination will give you just enough wieght to cast with, but still let the jig fall very slowly for a different presentation... the trailer is VERY important when using this presentation.. you need the bait to fall horizontally in the water column. you can play with different wieghts of trailers to find the right combination. that trick is the key to getting those pressured area bites.

Whatever jig you choose, put a Ragetail Lobster on it. Those big flappin claws are like parachutes. Great action and a slower fall. Its my favorite trailer.

well, thanks everyone for the replies... I had been having some pretty good success with wacky-rigged senkos for fish in various stages of pre-spawn and spawn... and I think a nice slow falling jig just might entice that DD into biting...

I ended up ordering a couple of these zero-g jigs in bluegill pattern (wanted watermelon, but Tackle Warehouse was out!)... Do you guys fish these with a trailer on em?

Slo-Fall I think was the name. I still have a couple. Those jigs fell at the same rate a crawfish does, but man it was hard to wait on that thing to fall and any slight twitch of the rod tip would move them out of the target area. Also an insane amount of slack in the line and if you tried to eliminate it, see above about the rod tip movement. Great concept, they just needed to be slightly heavier, maybe those zero-g heads have corrected this.
