About 30 years ago when I was in highschool I was quite the noodler. I'd come to school with washtubs full of flathead heads. A guy ask me how I caught them and I told him I just use kittens for bait. He shows up at my house with a towsack full of kittens begging me to take him...I had to set him straight after that. True story.

To correctly fish a jerk in cold water you have to pause the bait a long time-30 sec or more.

My first bass boat, an old Caravelle 15 ft fiberglass had a 50 horse Johnson on it. This was about 1980. A guy I worked with told me "you don't have to add oil to the gas everytime, if it's only a little low, just top it off."
Blew the power head a couple weeks later and had to spend my hard-earned tax refund getting it sleeved.
(little did I know, it was only the first of many boat repairs from then on)
