Spent most of the weekend sanding and painting some furniture. Discovered that the paint I was using as the color top coat was too old and wouldn't go on right. Bought some fresh paint to fix it and was able to spend Sunday afternoon fishing.
Ranged north of Crappie Island looking in deep water and noticed a consistent band around 30 feet, but they kept giving me the cold fin, not even a strike. Had better success on the humps in shallower water, about 20 feet. Caught about a dozen and a half at Iron Wall and north of Key Ranch. The count included a couple of yellow bass. Winds were light, becoming calm before sunset, barely needed the trolling motor to hold position.
