My apologies for running a week late here in June. As some of you know, we have been overloaded at the cabinet company I work for. I am over the door shop. One week, I worked until 10:30 PM on 4 of the 5 days, plus Saturday.

And in the midst of that, my Wife & stepDaughter are in Lugansk, Ukraine (eastern Ukraine). Lugansk has over a half million people and near the border to Russia. So you know things have been tense since the end of January for Ukraine. However, rumor had it something big was going to happen in Lugansk this past Sunday. Well, it didn't. However, IT started about 4 AM there Monday. The pro-Russian insurgents launched a well-armed attack in Elena's neighborhood a few blocks away, from atop one of the 12 story "civilian" apartment buildings (endangering those who lived there in the area). On Thursday, the pro-russians seized the Ukraine border base, plus two others. So things got considerably worse. Civilians have been told it is best they leave the city or they will get caught in the heavy crossfire, so there is a mass exodus going on at the moment. Sadly, due to it all, most have no choice but are having to look to flee into Russia instead of heading west. It is almost as if they are being herded like cattle. So, they, along with her Mom & stepDad, exit Ukraine sadly in 3 days, leaving behind their apartment & belongings, not knowing if & when they will be able to return, as well as what might be left of their belongings should they ever get to return. There is worry about looting due to such a mass exodus.

And this week being D-Day remembrance, brings the reality of how our freedom is affected when others try to deprive us through tyranny, and the lives & sacrifice of many who have paid for our freedom. Just because World War 2 was won, does not mean the war has been totally won.

I don't think most of us could even fathom the thought of a war going on in your own neighborhood, or even in your city. It just does not seem possible. Or having to leave, to ensure your safety, but leaving your livelihood & belongings, not knowing what lies in the future.

So I hope you can forgive me for running a tad late for this month's calendar due to the circumstances, as it has also kept me from catfishing as well. And as you go fishing, take a deep breath & be thankful you have been afforded the freedom to do so.

Here is your June 2014 Lynn's Catfish Calendar & "fixins" ...

Lynns Catfish Calendar- KEY:
YC = YellowCat // BC = BlueCat // BFT = Buffet (assorted) // ZIP = Zip (not very good)
Tip- Always bait out lines the night before a YC or BC day.
Tip- Gator Gars run ahead of YellowCats, so bait out late (between 11 PM to 1 AM).
Tip- BlueCats also bite good on YC days, but you can rack em up on BC days.
Tip- Some variations or alterations are due to weather or other external influences.
Tip- For Rod-n-Reelers, use Solunar Tables (etc.) also for best times with my calendar.
Tip- Near Full Moon, Gator Gars & YellowCats seem to feed a few hours later.
Tip- Your biggest YellowCats may hit best towards beginning & end of YC days.

Appreciate it Disarmer! I forget the KEY was not listed on page 3 yet.

About to call Elena before they head out on their EXIT. Hopefully they won't encounter any crossfire.

Glad I posted some of July ahead of schedule. I figured things would be hectic. They were & still are.

Elena & Helen, along with family made their exit OK to near Rossosh, Russia to her Aunt's place. That is where they are staying for now. Shortly after arrival the rains came, off & on for almost 1 1/2 weeks. And cold, almost freezing. They had to buy winter clothes, as they took summer clothes. Then electricity & water was out for 4 days to a week. So their first half month's visit will be one to remember (and hopefully not repeated). Naturally, prices are almost double there compared to what they were in Lugansk. Sometimes we don't realize how life can change due to a couple of unexpected things.

Speaking of that, right now our highest high here in B-CS was on Wednesday (9th). It was 97. But our humidity has been very high, making it feel up to 10 degrees hotter. But a high pressure ridge has just settled in, to really cook upper Texas. So be sure & have plenty of water on hand to prevent heat stroke, dehydration, and other similar problems when out catfishing.

And of course, be careful when out fishing in the midst of all the speedboats & jet skis to help prevent water tragedies.

OK, here's the total outlook for July 2014. And a tidbit of August 2014.

Due to so many things going on here at my end, I best hurry & post this while I have a chance, before I miss it. I hope everyone is taking this thing of getting too hot, very seriously. I thought I did too, as I worked on the roof last weekend. Obviously, even though I took preventative measures, it still did not stop the body's reaction to such extremes. Slowly recovered during the week, but it was tough. For two days, I wondered if I had shut down my kidneys. Luckily they started back up, but not speedily. Extremely stiff & painful shoulder & back muscles up towards neck finally finally have almost subsided.

Anyways, I survived. So here's your Lynn's Catfish Calendar for August & September 2014. I have several projects going which are going to tie me up until later in September, so that way everybody will be covered.

Still feels like summer here. We had a little nice spell the other day, but heat & humidity came back. But the cold front & possible thunderstorms is to hit here in Aggieland between 6 & 8 PM Thursday night (10-2-14). Tuesday night it was noted as hitting here about Midnight, but it is coming in faster thyan expected.

So just maybe, it might stay a bit cooler. Here's your Lynn's Catfish Calendar for October 2014, along with the fixin's & the KEY once again.

But first I want to make note of something. After posting the August & September Catfish Calendars back on Saturday 8-16-14 at 3:51 PM, I decided to check from time to time & jot down the "specs". After I posted it, that put the 2014 thread at 37 posts & nobody has posted anymore since then. The VIEW count then was at 6420. As of just now (11:30 PM 10-1-14), the VIEW count is now at 7986 & the thread is on p.14. That is 1566 VIEWS in the past 1 1/2 months. Simply Amazing!

OK, here is October ...

The other day, a contractor came by & he decided to swing on down by the door shop to check on me (due to my heart ordeal back in early 2012) & see how I was doing. He also shared that his brother swears by my Catfish Calendar (meaning he vouches for it working for him). I am always glad to hear its helping someone get more potential & volume as to their catching catfish (Yellows & Blues), along with Gator Gars.

I do want to share some preliminary results for Crappie. I'm not saying it is a definite, but it seems the Crappie hit best on the BC days, especially when they are closer to a New Moon. The fishing times have been from about dark to Midnight & possibly into 3 or 4 AM. They usually head out about dark & sometimes limit out by Midnight. If there is a small shower while fishing, the Crappie seem to go in a frenzie. Like I say, this is just a Preliminary glimpse into a possible pattern for Crappie in case you wish to check it out.

Be Safe!
Happy Catfishin'

Guess I better post this month's Lynn's Catfish Calendar (LCC) for November 2014 before I head out for a family birthday meal party. Due to expenses for 8 to 10 adult parties a year, we decided to trim it down to 3 or 4 conglomerate birthday meals at Golden Corral. That way everybody gets to eat what they want.

Anyways, looks like cooler weather might finally be here to stick around, or at least cooler than before. I think, if I recall correctly, that one almanac noted we were in for another colder winter like last year. Those up north got it pretty good (meaning bad) this past winter. I guess time will tell. Of course cooler weather definitely means BlueCat, at least for me.

Stats update in case you ever wondered about how many are using this Catfish Calendar---
Since last month's posting, the 2014 LCC thread was either at 7986 or 7992 and has climbed up to to 9056 just a few minutes ago. That is about 1066 to 1072 VIEWS in the last 31 days. I might add that some viewing might also be from catfishers from beyond Texas' borders.

Looks to be a very good Thanksgiving (T-Day) Catfishin' Holiday (Wed-Sun), if you are thinking about it.

For the KEY, back up in the thread in case you need it. Also there was an update earlier in the 2014 LCC thread. I think I posted it. It was titled "2014 PYC Commentary (1-26-14)". If somebody combs back & does not find it, let me know & I'll post it. I have all the material handy to set up the 2015 LCC, but have yet to find the time this past 2 months to map it out for 2015. I hope it is not as rough as 2014 was.

Sadly due to the Ukrainian unrest in the East & Crimea-Russia bit, that has drawn a lot of my time away, as well as work (boy, have we been busy). The war in Lugansk (eastern city) created a situation where many residents had to flee, including my wife (Elena), step-daughter Helen), and in-laws (Mama Tanya & Papa Sergei). They had to exit in May to Russia to relatives. Right after they left, quite a few got caught in the crossfire & were killed. They took what they could on the bus which was not much. Currently, Lugansk is still under insurgents, but partially peaceful. But much destruction & people there are in a survival mode. Elena is still with her Aunt in Russia. Helen is now in Kiev with her college best friend from Lugansk. Papa Sergei is helping friends of his sister's (Aunt Tania) as he is a welder. Soon, he may return to Lugansk if the situation is stable. Mama Tanya just returned to work in Lugansk, but will flee if things get worse. She will make less, but there was no work in Russia. Both apartments were not damaged or destroyed, nor does it seem they were looted since May. Thank Goodness!

That has taken much of my time & money this year to the tune of not being able to get together a printed copy of the 2014 Catfish Calendar. I hope to for 2015 though. Fingers crossed!

From my personal experiences ...

Due to possible bad case scenarios while on your fish outings, and conditions or things go bad (and believe me, they do), do not become a statistic. First off, never panic if you have problems on the lake or the river. Think swiftly for your options & then apply them as needed. If you realize your first choice does not work, then shift to another option. Remember that in cold waters, should you have to be in them, requires you to keep your core temperature warm. Assess you & the water temperature as it may require specific options to stay alive. Simply put, a good life jacket with a good insulated vest can do wonders. Keep legs & arms moving, even if not needed. But do not overdo it. In a river with current, run your trajectory downstream at an angle towards the bank (at a place you can climb out). If need be, scope it out for a possible trajectory target. Most will lose fighting the current. I had a few friends on the Brazos River, in which 2 of the 4 lost their lives making that mistake. A lake is much different, but if there is a wind, or strong wind, it too works similar to a current. Let it help you. Do not fight into it. Once to shore, if cold, seek warmth as soon as possible. If unable to bring your boat or gear with you, just remind yourself that you bought or accumulated all of that. If need be, you can do it again. If you try saving it & go beyond your limits, you yourself will not make it, so the "stuff" really won't matter to you on the "other side".

When weather conditions go bad, stop the clock on fishing & get off the water ASAP.
