Any thoughts or first hand feedback on the Flow-rite remote drain plug?

Ranger is starting to add them to their 2014s and I'm considering adding to my 2013 Z521

If anyone has a thought or opinion on location to install, that would be helpful...

Thinking I might run it up just below the tank switch if possible... Next to the live well switch that's already there.. vs Drilling into the splash well wall where they install on the 2014s

Sure would be nice to address pulling and plugging to meet these dang zebra mussel rules. I know I'm gonna go swimming or reloading this year if I don't add it...

I've never had a problem just using a $2 old fashioned plug.

For me personally, I would refrain from putting another mechanical device that may eventually fail or require added maintenance to;
a) a critical part of the boat
b) such an easy task anyway
I would hate to be out there in the middle of the water, taking on water because of some mechanical device failure, especially if the bilge pump fails also.............

The very first thing to ask yourself when contemplating a modification is, "What can go wrong with this?"

I'm old school, I like to screw it in and take it out. I just can't risk having some "new design" leaking or not working when I have clients on the boat.

I never remove my drain plug unless I get caught in the rain. This is the fourth Ranger I have owned and never had one leak. Never have a problem remembering to install drain plug.

Can't give you any cons yet I have not got mine installed yet, but after seeing them installed at the Ranger factory last fall I knew I wanted one. Leaving the plug in all the time is not an option in North Texas Zebra mussel lakes, if you get caught leaving the plug in you get a ticket. And on my Ranger you have to crawl under the back of the boat to take the plug out, I hate doing that at the ramp. I bought the 10' model with plans on placing it by the live well switch I think it will reach. I will post agian when I get it installed.
