Thank You very much.
I don't know about being a "scholar" but you are very much a "gentleman".

I have only fished Palestine in the Highsaw area and wanted to try somewhere different this Spring.
Cades Lake and Old Folks Playground I have heard a lot about. My father-in-law has fished there for years, but could not tell me where and doesn't like to go out much anymore. I am assuming the Kickapoo Bridge boat ramp is safe to launch at ?

Old Folks gets alot of pressure but if you time it just right, some really nice fish could be in there?

Any place where there is good fishing has "pressure". Come to Lake Athens on a Saturday since the 2 SALs were caught there. Talk about fishing pressure & there are not that many good spots on Athens.

I understand that well, when Palestine is full Old Forks might have 18 surface acres of water in there?

That boat ramp is fine. I launch there quite often. I am always careful not to leave anything of value in my truck because you never know where the meth heads will strike next. The water temps I found yesterday were in the 40s and the fish I had been catching have moved. I will be out there this afternoon trying to relocate a few. Good luck!

anyone know if you can launch at Cades? Used to leave money in the can at the little shed and launch at the little ramp by the rv spots, but it's been years since I been up there.

You cannot launch up there anymore. Its private property and gated off.

You can launch at the RV park on the east side that is at the power lines I forget the name but just a short idle to Cades lake area or the Neches river. It is a pay ramp but safer then Kickapoo ramp.

Westberry landing. Good place, has two ramps one goes towards the power lines, the other heads past them.

We had an inch or more of freezing rain and sleet dumped into and on the lake last Sunday. Monday the high was in the low to mid 20s with lows in the mid teens. It may have gotten to freezing Tuesday, but I don't think so. It was still pretty cold yesterday. Today is the "warm" day. After a start in the 30s, it's about 55 right now. The ice is finally just about gone five days after it fell. We're going back down into the mid 30s tonight.

I seriously doubt water temperatures and the fishing in that shallow water up north on Palestine are going to be anything like they were last weekend before the North Pole moved to East Texas.
