I'll have to take my hat off to you, but 4 hrs. is a long, long time especially if you aren't getting any action at all. You can cover a lot of water in that amount of time and just moving a short distance in the general vicinity can make all the difference in the world. Cats move up and down in the water column and they hold off structure differently from one day to the next. Nothing wrong with staying put, but you can also sit on one spot too long.
Just one more cast!

Well these kind of post are like brisket smoked fat up or fat down and hot & fast or low and slow! There is no set way or time limit! I have a type of structure I like to look for and stick to that. Time in a spot varies depending on the fish! In the spring and summer it depends on the gar! If I just had to pick a time limit on kitty fishing it would be 30 to 45 minutes. Crappie is 5 to 10 minutes! I prefer shaller water fishin so they is there or not. If there, sometimes they just aint feedin. If the weather is a factor on a slow bite, I will stay a couple of hours. Fished a tourney once when a cold front came thru and fishin was great on pre fish day and nada on tourney day. The boat that won stayed put all day long. Fish were not biting but they knew fish were there. They got that occasional bite and got enuf fish to win. Many boats caught nuthin that day as they were constantly moving. So there just aint a set time limit for me! Have confidence in your fishin ability to seek out the fish and stay the course. Many times if I do move, it aint very far.

I was thinking about it an realized most of you guys are probably in a boat as I always bank fish, and 30min of setting all my gear up isn't worth a 15min wait for a bite

We have to commit to a spot for longer than those that can move quickly. I'm trying to get better about that though, and travel light. One or two rods, most or all of my other gear in a backpack. I want to be able to get everything back to the truck in one trip, so that I can get to another location fast.

I'm still new to blue cat fishing, but it kills me to sit in one spot more than 1 hour without a bite. For channel cat fishing I give it 30 minutes without a bite and then move.
We fished Saturday at Lewisville for 9 hours and moved 6 times. We moved once even though we were catching dinks for an hour straight. We marked and caught fish at each stop, but kept moving to look for bigger fish.
