Nope, I don't know where that grasser pond is. It's no where near by me, sorry. I've yet to catch a Grasser myself. Where ever it is, they're stocked legally.

And no, I've not personally seen pictures of buffalo that big, just seen it listed in records and things like that? I believe the official trotline record for Smallmouth Buffalo in Texas is 97 pounds, and LSC has told me that buffs over 100 have been caught on trotline, and as knowledgable as he is, I believe him.

I can't imagine getting a fish like that in. I just think of how strong those 20 pound buffs are, and how massive and powerful a 50 pounder would be, let alone an 80. If you find any pictures I'd love to see them.

Although there was a 60 pound smallmouth buffalo caught at a carp tournament in Austin a few months back, and there were pictures of it posted here in the forum. Do a "Search" under general freshwater and look for carp, buffalo, or 60 pound fish lol.

I caught the carp on a 15lb test line. I first thought I had hung best bass of my life, until he rolled over. It was still a good fight and fun to catch. One thing I noticed, he didnt mess around, he swallowed the lure. Luckly for him I was able to get it out with tearing the inside of his mouth. I turned him loose, wished I had a camera. I guess I am going to have put one in the boat.

Cool, glad to hear you let him go, and that you enjoyed the fight! That's why I like carp and buffalo so much, they're very strong and excellent fighters. Buffalo get bigger, but I think carp often fight harder. Are you sure it was a carp, or was it a buffalo? The picture of the fish I have in this thread is a buffalo. Carp are a golden-bronze color and have a forward oriented mouth, rather then downward like a sucker. Just curious as a lot of people get them confused. Carrying a camera is a good idea I always try to have one now, just in case lol. A lot of times carp will be very cautious with a bait, especially if they've been caught and released before, but I imagine he swallowed that lure cause he thought it was a minnow and didn't want it to get away! Lol.

I am sure it was a carp, he was definately more golden color. Last summer my son caught one at the Bend (on Colorado River) on a trotline that weighed 25lbs. The local store owner said it was the biggest he had seen there. He didnt release it because they wanted to take it to the store to weigh and get pictures. He did however give it to a guy that liked eating carp, so it didnt go to waste. Its not uncommon to catch 20 plus lbs in the Colorado River in trotlines.

Oh yeah? Very interesting. I wonder if you'd be able to get a lot of those 20+ on rod and reel as well. That'd be a heck of a lot of fun.

And I forgot to ask, where'd ya catch the big carp on the lure?

The one on a lure came out of Lake Brownwood. It was in about 4 ft. of water.

Basscat the colorado river holds a really good supply of massive carp what part of it are you fishing

Normally down at the Bend or Sulphur Springs.
Its kind of west of Lampassas.
