One feature of the ONIX series is Digital Sonar versus Analog in the current models and their predecessors.
The ONIX Platform offers many new features like Dedicated DI Element in the All-In-One Transducer and map sharing feature, SmartStrike Mapping, and a whole lot more. It's a new addition to the Humminbird line. HB looking good. I'm more interested with the sonar quality we're seeing here. And I realize that these are the best of the best pics. But looking GOOD. Liking the DSP and dedicated 2D/DI/SI crystal transducer. Would love to see this transducer.

I am a Bird guy and have two of the "98" versions on my boat. My tourney partner has Lowrance HDS units and I was impressed until now, Bird really stepped it up!
Great images!

when using 360 imaging for a one day a week fisherman like me should I look at the onix with a big price tag or a 998 999 is there going to be a big improvement because you seem to find plenty of fish with last years sounders

360 Imaging works great on the current platforms and their predecessors. Just depends on the features and your budget. ONIX is the newest but the 800, 900 and 1100 have been great models with lots of great features too.

can you share way points between the onix and a 998 You can manually share via SD Card Transfer The correct answer is CURRENTLY NO. ONIX and the 1198/998/898(or 1199/999/898) cannot share waypoints. I'm just a Humminbird user, but in the future, Humminbird might accomplish sharing waypoints and GPS. It would be in HB's best interest as a migration path. Transducer sharing will probably not ever be done cause 998 is analog and ONIX is all digital transducer and has the addition of a DI crystal. IMO

Here's a picture of the ONIX/ION transducer posted on another forum: ![](http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j388/LittleGazoo/XT-14-20-HDSI-T_zps299a63c6.jpg) I'm hoping the ONIX/ION transducer cable can be routed down the Terrova shaft's slot.

IMO I would like to see at least 'best guess' from Humminbird on this. I am about to upgrade graphs right now. I have a 998 on the console that I am thinking of moving to the front 'if' the Onix will support networking to it. I can't get any answers on this and I am getting to the point where I can't wait any longer because I don't have a working front graph..... I can't justify spending 2,500 dollars on a what if.
