Man I miss those sunfish contest , my nephew never won but It really added a bit of spice to his attempts . I remember every fish he caught he would whip the out measuring tape lol .

Thanks guys for the replies.  The Guadalupe River has some BIG Sunfish.  "Aquiles": I also miss those contest. I loved seeing those fish being entered. It brought some good attention to a very simple fish. A lot of anglers took part for sure.

Nice Hog! Congratulations Chuck on both your record and PB! Is this your first 2 plus pound Sunfish? Seems that you are catching most of your big Redear during the winter months. Any ideas why they seem to me more active during the winter than Spring or Summer?
Again Congrats on catching a super fish.

It's Official. Certificate arrived yesterday. I also received a Big Fish Award. Thanks "Gitter" for the reply. Yes sir this is my first Sunfish over 2 pounds. I have had a few a pound and three quarters but never one over 2 pounds. I have caught a Rio that went a little over 2 pounds and it is the current State Record.

Nice Banker,never really gave alot thought to awards & such really just love to fish.But,since joining TFF Ive noticed i could've had a few myself. ;)Gonna try to get me one.I've already looked up the body records for the rivers/lakes/creeks in my area.

Thanks Mike for the reply. Enjoying the outdoors and having a BLAST catching a simple fish on some ultra light gear is what it is all about. As for the records if they are there and I nail one I usually submit it.  A record is just one added bonus.  The main thing is to have fun and enjoy the outdoors.
