Is there any place to put in and park a car and kayak trailer in the old alton bridge area? Also is it even worth taking ( or trying ) to take a yak up that creek? I know there are sandies starting to run now. Any feed back or suggestions are appreciated. JP.

The water is way to low and not worth it right now. It's pretty much dry at that end with just a trickle of water flowing. Was just there last weekend to check out the creek. When the sand bass run it can be good but they aren't running yet. Yes on the parking but it is limited space and fills up quick. People like to walk the trails and take pictures at the old bridge. Launching is hard but can be done when water is up but you'll have to drag over some rocks. Right now it would be better to put in at Pilot Knoll Park and paddle up until you run out of water.

Found this old picture I had. You can almost jump across the creek now cry

I stopped by on the way home and took these. We need rain bad!

This is under the new bridge and pretty much the end of any good water. Just up stream it gets narrow and shallow.

This is what you have to climb down to launch.

Man those pics are depressing. The trails up from the bridge can lead to some awesome sandbass fishing in the spring but we got to get some rain.

Ouch - one of my favorite sandbass/hybrid places. Thanks for the pics Todd - you saved me a recon trip.

If you can't tell from the 2nd pic from under the new bridge, that rocky area is probably about a foot drop so unless we get some rain or sandies/hybrids can pull some acrobatic moves like salmon I don't see how they can make it past the bridge. I've been out there a couple times in the past week and caught a couple of small sandies but no major push so far.

Since the water under the bridge is that low, I am guessing just around the bend to the right, there may be a complete stop to the creek - last year, there was a shallow that sandies and hybrids did in fact run like salmon to get upstream. I would think at this level, they would get road rash.

However, one good flush of warmer water will bring them up and Katie bar the door. Often they will get trapped when the water goes down and if the anglers and predators don't get them, the seiners will.

Roger, I thought the same thing and was suprised to find there was still water running under both pipes, not much but I think they would be able to get up past the pipes if they were able to make it past the bridge.
