My largest and most sand bass were caught on 3-4" sidewinder lures, they are very hard to find now but on ebay gold or silver. Now use mostly sassy shad or flukes but I do not target sand bass.

Stripers would be 900 series Redfin with center hook removed, silver/black or rainbow trout color, my best 27.3 lb cert weight or Cordell Blue Striper in silver/yellow. My father used to modify the Redfin by grinding almost all the bill off and removing the center hook which turns it into a topwater with a very different movement. Now mostly sassy shad, flukes or cocoa moe minnows.

Hybrids would be chrome rattle trap or 4-5" sassy shad/flukes. Moe's plastic baits are hard to beat, you cant beat them.

This over a lifetime of fishing and I am still using them on Texoma and Tawakoni.

Aggie Josh--
we are all here to help you as we help each other with the passion we share in fishing..
Fishing Humps --
Lakes that have humps in deep water and have a lot of water around them. You will see the white bass on your graph. The best scenario for slabs is when the fish are at the top of the humps. This often means that the white bass, stripers, crappie, even cats..have the bait surrounded and they will use the top of the hump as an ambush point. Sometimes the fish will hit your slab on the hump slope as your lure rises and falls, and sometimes they will hit at the bottom of the hump, but the top of the hump will usually have more active fish if they are their..
use good lures resembling colors and sizes of shad in that lake.

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

I made a slab for myself and a rather poor reproduction of Dennis Christian's Mepps spinner. I also tied a few flys. I can make slabs now, poor the lead and paint the slabs. I can make one every few days. smile road runner bucktails, spinners and flys. Just playing around.

I caught my first fish on my lures yesterday. We found some really nice sandies on Lewisville. I took go-fish-now with me and we caught sandies that went to 16 inches. It was a good day. I kept about 10 fish and ate them for dinner with my wife. Fish straight from the water to the table is excellent.

Vertical jigging when you are on fish any slab will work. I think presentation is the key. On schooling fish the chartreuse McQueen from Moes tackle is hard to beat. They will also work on Hybrids.

John those look really great. It is a good feeling to catch fish on something you have made yourself.

Pastor John: on the third pic, the grasshopper pattern ( muddler), don't be scared to use more deer hair. Beef the head up a bit more. Looking good.

Ok question I've been told that you let your jig sink to the bottom and then (here is were it differs) you either jig it up hard then let it flutter back to the bottom and repeat. Or reel it up from the bottom all the way up then drop to the bottom and repeat. Question is trebles on jigs hitting the bottom to me means a lot of snags any advice to prevent this or a different technique

Thanks for the advice Tarponfly. I did not really have the right materials to make that fly properly. These were also my first attempts. I did not leave enough room on the hook to put three bundles of hair for the head. That is also why there is no collar. I used antelope hair and some dear tail. I got some elk fur so my next ones should be much better. I was happy to make the wings turn out ok, so next it will be to get the head correct. Again, thank you for the instruction. I'm just a beginner.
