Lot of votes for the Core. Are you talking about the 50MG being lighter, or the 100? I seem to recall the Metanium is a little lighter than the Core 100. I have used the Metanium for about a month now, and will most likely sell my Core to get another one.

Sounds like he is a Daiwa fan.

The only reels in my boat are Revo's. The newer models are junk imo and really thinking about changing over to cores.

Shimano stellas and Antares and mentaniums will be my reels of choice after I graduate in August.

I have several of the OLD Pinnacle PLS 100's (Gold) from the early 2000's and they are by far my favorite reels. The newer versions are junk and I wouldn't own one. The H2o Mettles are a good reels and they work. However, I do love my Revo STX reels. That would be my choice.

If money was not a consideration, I would buy every reel and test each one, then determine the best. DUH

I have stock piled all the old greenies I could get my hands on that were in good shape and never look back. Day in and out good reels.

I own most Shimanos including the Calais DC and Calcutta DC and they are fine reels but they are way too heavy. The new Chronarch CI4 is a nice reel for the money but that wasn't the question.

None of my Shimanos are in the same class as my Steez reels. I have used them hard and they have held up extremely well and are still solid & tight. I will admit that I was skeptical when I picked up the first one due to its feather-light weight but after using it hard as my primary reel for over a year I bought 4 more.

OK, really? Question:
What makes the Steez soo much better than, say the Tartula R series?
Other than the darn thing costs much more?

The Steez is quiet, smooth, lightweight, casts like a dream, and simply preforms flawlessly. They all feel pretty good at the reel counter at Bass Pro. The proof in the pudding is how they feel after a year or two of hard use.

Haven't used the new Tatula R. Looks like a great reel. Shimano used to own the highend reel market with the Calcutta and then the Chronarch. IMO, the old gold Chronarch SF is still a great reel.

It's kind of like someone asking why the new Audi S8 is so much more expensive than a Chevy Impala. Both are good cars that will get you down the road. The guy in his new Impala must think the same thing. Why does that Audi cost so much more?? You only realize the difference after you get in the thing and drive it..
