I bought a couple of matching All Star Rods (maybe twelve years ago) at the Nashville BPS.
The rods were marked down "On Sale" but i cant remember the exact price i paid for them.

This is the description for the rods.

The blank has "All Star Graphite Rods" and "Houston Tx" present in white lettering.
BCH-6 10 to 20 lb. 3/8 - 3/4 oz. Fast Heavy.
Classic Graphite Series 11 C.
Grey Blank with Maroon Wraps.
Solid Reel Seat - Rod Blank is not exposed on the bottom of the real seat.

Does anyone know what the original retail price would have been on this rod.
Would it have been a higher end rod or a more moderately priced one.

It was right at $79.99 new retail. It should look just like the ones academy was discontinuing last year(the Allstar Classic) that is now china made. When you bought this is was priced accordingly about the same as all the other high end TX made rods Castaway,Allstar, and yes even Falcon lowriders were priced new for about $79 say back in 98 or 2000.

i've got 7 of the older allstar shrimptail specials. i had Randy at RR Rods rewrap and replace the eyes, 2 of em have been broken off at the tip and new tips put on, so they are a little shorter now. of all the rods i've owned, these hold up better and retain their looks better than the others. with the different color wraps, no one ever guesses that they are old allstars.

Yes that is the exact rod advertised on ebay.

Ive been using those rods for maybe 12 years now and they are as good now as they were on day one. The colors havent faded and the wraps are still tight but then again i take excellent care of my equipment. I use them close up around heavy cover as jig rods and whenever i need a heavier worm rod. They have what it takes to turn a good sized fish towards the boat.
