Also pick up some Sexy Shad Kevin VanDam- Square bills. I have won lots of tournaments on those two baits alone. And zoom motor oil chartreuse plastic worm Texas rigged.

Thanks guys. Thanks Tarpon, I will have to place an order before the spawn kicks in! That tail looks like it'll get the bass mad lol.

You could probably take your line up some if your gear can take it. I regularly use 12lb test in Mono. I found that I lose less nicer bass this way and it hasn't seemed to effect the amount of fish that I catch. I've been really happy with P-Line. I had a similar problems with setting the hook a few years back and I was breaking a lot of bass off. I found that my line was the problem. I was missing fish because I would go to set the hook and because I loosened the drag, it wouldn't allow a proper hook set. I then decided to go up to 10lb test. Not once have a regretted it. Most bass you shouldn't have to wait to set the hook, but I always like to give it a second ot two after I feel the *thump* to make sure they have. It's hard not to set the hook right away. I've used senkos in both ways and sometimes weightless works better and other times weighted works better. It really is up to the fish in what way they want it. Don't rule out texas rigging a senko either. I've caught some really nice bass doing that too.

It was my first time actually fishing for bass so i was using a small 6ft shimano rod with a spinning reel, need to get a baitcaster asap! And i really have to agree with you on it being hard not to set the hook right away since i usually fish for crappie and am used to setting the hook right when i feel the "thump". So i really have to practice on patient hook setting lol. The other day I tried wacky rigging weightless and weighted, and i seem to like the weightless route better. Thanks for the advice Fisherman!
