I like the look of their H2O line BUT, all of it seems to be made in CHINA!! I really want to buy American made tackle. I shop Academy but, I am picky about what I purchase

I just happen to like some of the H20 stuff better than the other stuff I've used, made in China or not. Works better for me so I'll make an exception.

Hmmmmmmm....looking today specifically at hard baits, I saw a number of manufacturers all made in America. Supporting American business, supporting American jobs. Just my opinion, but I believe in that. Don't get me wrong, some of the H20 stuff I saw looked good but, then I made the conscious decision to BUY AMERICAN. Buying overseas junk does not help us or our country. One more reason for the condition of our country in the mess it is in today.

I will get the bag out of the car, LOL, haven't even brought them in yet, and will post on here. Really good looking hard baits. I went there specifically looking for Bill Lewis Rattle Traps as they were on sale. Made in USA. Ok, went out to the car. Obviously Bill Lewis Rat-L-Traps, bought several since they were on sale (Academy), and Bomber Fat free Shad - 807/8507. The Bomber really looks good but, I know the Rat-L-Traps all work. Seems right now in cold water, 1/2oz or heavier and red seems to be working. Hope this helps. Oh, I checked the Xcaliber, was really good looking BUT made in 'Estonia' ?? No thanks Just my opinion

Academy just purchased $250,000 worth of rods from Castaway, this might help some with their rod selection

I work for academey and I can tell you, yes they discontinue all the time but just wait til march when we do a new planogram and all the fishing stuff comes back in to the stores. They believe in seasons just like everything else. They are not gonna have the stuff you want year round even though they carry alot of things through the year. We just picked up a few new soft plastic companies and the stuff is slowly coming in. Just give it some time, or order from tackle warehouse....I just use it for the discount

I used to work for Sportsman's Whearhouse in Lewisville. They had a very good selection of lures and fishing gear. All the salesmen were helpfull and were fishermen themselves. They were able to demonstrate how to use any type of equipment. And knew the best hot spots for catching the big ones. Too bad they closed all their stores in Texas.

I do miss the old local tackle shops of my youth. Unfortunately, apparently, not too many are willing to pay just a little bit more to get the service that you once could from those kinds of stores. I used to really like Academy. They used to have 7" worms and lizards on their "worm bar" that was really cheap. You used to be able to get most things you wanted to there. You used to could even get real American made All-Stars there. I'm showing my age.
