I found this photo recently of the old Belding ranch before PK was impounded. Simply amazing




I am really interested in the history of the lake and surrounding country and was wondering if anyone had old pictures of Pickwick or anything else.

I was taught a history lesson about this picture yesterday. Indians !!!!

wagon tracks?

The area got it's name from a trapper being chased by Indians. He said I would go through hells gate before I give back the firs. I think that's how it went.

The lake is very low and the old town of Pick Wick is no above water. I'll see if I can find my pics.

Here is a pic of the cistern at pick wick . The post office is above water now.. Not much to see just a slab of concrete on the edge of the river. I'll take a pic next weekend

Yes you could walk there now....the old pick wick is easy to find.....it's between sand island and McGinnis point....if you go to Willow Beach and head through the reeds left of the RV Park you can get there on foot. There's no loot to find though ...plenty of metal detectors.....and other folks have been to this site.......it there to enjoy.... If you look carefully you can see the old corral..
