Had one almost as bad going to Falcon. 10 hour drive from our house anyway. Lost a bearing in Laredo at 2:00 am on a Friday night. Limped to a 24 hour Autozone and borrowed some tools. Took off the wheel and saw the spindle was toast. Had to sit in the truck in a rough part of town until a machine shop opened. Limped in without a bearing and waited until 10:00 or 11:00 until he fixed it. Finally made it to the ramp at Falcon that afternoon, backed it in and the prop wouldnt turn. Buddy had just changed the impeller and didnt get the shaft lined up. Loaded back up, went to another Autozone in Zapata to borrow more tools. Started drinking Finally got on the water the next morning.

Totally worth it.

It's good to know I'm not the only one to have lost something of value in the lake. I've lost a trolling motor, 2 Curados w/Falcon rods, 2 Team Daiwas w/ 2 All-Star rods, 1 pair of Ray Bans, 3 cell phones and to many pliers to count.

I don't feel so bad now. I'm one of those people that tie off the boat and walk about 5 steps and look back and check on it. Then I walk a few more steps and look back again. I do that 4 or 5 times on the way to the truck. I'm always worried that it will drift away.

I wouldn't be so quick to take the plunge. Sure was funny to watch, though.

These all sound like aggie stories.

Haha, there are more. It seems like many of the good ones are from Bastrop. One Aggie Angler thought it was a good idea to throw his truck keys in the water when loading his boat on the trailer the night before the club tourney. Oddly enough, that was in January, too. To my knowledge, he never got that pair of keys back. I know he's a TFF member, but not sure if he wants to claim that one.

Can you post pics of the broken mount? I have the quick release also and I want to see what could potentially go wrong.

You have me a little nervous about my terrova now.... Do you use a stabilizer mount of any sort on the shaft? Which mount is it and how did it break?

It was the MKA 21 bracket and it's obvious what broke on it.

So, I thought I would just get the boat up on slow plane and move to the next spot, I was just going a few hundred yds at slow speed and didn't feel it was necessary to strap the old Minkota down. I hit a wake and saw the troller lift off and drop into fishing position. Instantly it ripped off and the foot pedal shot back along the passenger side taking several rods with it. The pedal would have been about face level as it went past the passenger seat. I learned that day that not securing the troller is a hugely dangerous deal with the potential of killing or seriously maiming someone in the boat.

My wife and I took off a week to go to Fork. I pulled the RV and she pulled the boat. We got there Friday evening and got set up for the week. Went out Saturday morning and got 2 coves over from Chaney and the lower unit went out. Didn't hit anything just all I had was neutral. No problem just use the trolling motor to get back. Wrong. Went about 100 yds and the relay fried on trolling motor. Now this was during Skeeter owners tourny and for an hour couldn't flag anyone down. Guy stops and will not tow us but will take my wife back to dock to get help. She gets back to the dock and 7 people said they couldn't help her. Now our phones were left in the RV by mistake so she couldn't even call anyone because it was locked and the keys were in my pocket. So she sees a young Marine named Neil Carret and he tells her he will help. Comes and tows me in but refuses money for his time and gas. Thank him profusely and he leaves. My wife goes to the truck and comes back crying. Someone has hit the trailer and broke the fender and tail light out. But there is more.
Went to Steve's prop shop and get a relay for the TM. He helps me install it then calls around trying to find a lower unit. No luck. Take it to service marine and Diamond sports and neither have the parts to fix it. Would take a week to get parts. Go back to RV and call it a day. Get on TFF and find a lower unit in Mansfield that will fit. Guy says he will help me install it at his shop if I can get there. Set it up for next morning. We get up to go and make it to I-20 just west of HWY 19 and a semi blows a drive tire and rips the fender off and all that comes off and hits my Yukon in the grill and busts ths grill, radiator, windshield, trans cooler, then goes under my truck and skins the bottom of my boat up and the piece of tread wedges in between my boat and the fender on the trailer and flops up and destroys my graph. Goes out and hits the guy behind me and busts his windshield. We called a buddy of mine to come get us and the boat and the Hwy Patrol has the Yukon towed. He takes us back to RV and on the way to our RV the trailer plug comes undone and rips the wires off the trailer. We pack up and go home. Get home safely.
Semi's insurance denied liability so my insurance picked up and I was out $2000 to get everything fixed and the Lawyers have it now. I learned one thing through all this. It can always get worse. LOL

That Bracket is for the PowerDrive and not the Terrova...

Minn Kota MKA-21 PowerDrive Composite Quick Release Bracket
PowerDrive Composite Quick Release Bracket (MKA-21)
Allows for easy removal of any PowerDrive or PowerDrive with AutoPilot trolling motor.
Composite construction is super strong and impervious to corrosion.
Low-profile puck design leaves deck clear when motor is removed.
Locking handle can be secured with padlock (not included).
Available adapter plate (MKA-22, not shown) allows hole pattern from previously mounted motors or aluminum quick release brackets (MKA-16-02) to be used with MKA-21 composite bracket.

The Terrova should be mounted utilizing the Minn Kota MKA-47 Universal Mounting Bracket

Minn Kota MKA-47 Universal Mounting Bracket
MKA-47 Universal Mounting Bracket

Universal Mounting Bracket (All Aluminum) allows you to easily switch between cable steer and electric steer motors, so you can choose the right trolling motor for the application. Utilizes existing mounting hole patterns. No additional drilling is required. Innovative positioning mechanism allows motor to slide inboard (up to 6") for additional clearance when launching boat. Removable top plate allows motor to be easily removed for storage and security.

Pretty much a tie with drag racing I would say. I enjoy both but I've paid the price over the years. hammer
