What does everyone think about people that are late going fishing for fun?

Next how about someone says that they are not going to make it by text, but you call them and they don't answer?

Do you ever try to make plans with them ever again or cut the line?...(LOL)

Or how bout that person who you invite and they tell you yes, I'd like to go but let me check with the boss "wife" and then you have to wait till 10:00pm to find out he can't go!

If it happens twice it's a trend. Three times, it's a problem. I've met some very reliable people here on TFF; but my college friends are the worst about flaking out on golf/fishing at the last minute. I think you just have to find people that are just as addicted to fishing as you are.

I give someone two chances. I give them the benefit of the doubt that something really did come up to cause them to miss out.

Most of my friends know how serious I am about fishing and know I won't mess around with them. I had a buddy that was supposed to meet at a ramp at 7:00 one morning. He text me and said he was going to be late...so I went fishing in the cove next to the ramp. About 30 minutes later he text me saying he would be there in about 5 minutes. Guess what...I was about 30 minutes late picking HIM up this time!

If it happens with the same person more than once, I simply don't extend an invitation to them again.

You learn which friends those are and don't invite them again. Simple.

Plenty of folks who will be there rain or shine.

If it's just for fun, I don't worry about it too much, tourneys are different since I have some entry $$ at stake. Had a friend who I fished with all the time and he had no concept of time. I would routinely go to his house to pick him up and he was not ready to go, not outside getting ready, etc. In fact, on many occasions I had to go and knock (ie, bang) on his bedroom window to wake him up. At that point, he usually didn't even have his tackle rounded up so that took a few extra minutes too. But hey, we were great friends so I didn't let it bother me. Those fish aren't going anywhere, they'll still be there when we arrive.

I have fishing buddy that got me in good habit, if you were 1 minute late to ramp he was already gone. You just simply never showed up late. I was late once and called him back to ramp, he let me have it for 5 minutes though. the funniest was when I got him back one day I had to wait on him, I let him have it for 10 minutes.

One of my friends wanted to go to the lake with me. I told him to meet me at ramp at 6. He texted me at 2am saying he drank to much to get up that early, but would def make it next time. The only people that go with me now are people that are as serious about it as I am.
