I'm in need of info on the product that works best on cleaning up and "polishing" an older bass boat! What kind of wheels for a "grinder", or is the slower speed buffing machine better? I know there are "professionals" who do this, but I've got more time on my hands than most, and like doing stuff like this myself!

We wet sand with 1000 grit and then buff with 3m compound on a slow to medium speed cloth pad and then wax/polish with 3m wax on a slow/medium foam pad. I would first wash boat and wipe down with pro sol which will remove any road grim oil or other contaminates that you do not want to burn into the finish.

Where would be the best place to get the sand paper and 3M products? I'm guessing a place that sells automotive paints? I'm in a small town, so not even sure where to begin looking... Again thanks!!!

yes to finding your supplies at an automotive paint/supply store, english color, color supply, hit harbor freight/sears/walmart up for the buffer, variable speed, low rpms for buff and polish, the paint store can steer you right on what you need and how to use the stuff and it wouldn't hurt to take a good detailed pic of the surface your working with you so he can see what your have

napa, autozone, oriellys all carry the sandpaper probably the wax too. academy if you have one close I know carries the 3m wax, the cleaner wax also has some mild abrasive in it to further polish.

Well this by far has not been an "easy" project! The wet sanding is doing a great job of knocking the oxidation off! I thought I had a "Buffer" here at home I'd bought years ago... But I can't find it now! So my question of the day is... Should I just get a typical buffer, or go with the grinder style polisher... I'm thinking the polisher will get into the books and crannies on the Gunnel easier! Is it worth the cost difference?

I always use the grinder style with a wool buffing pad. It makes a huge difference. Make sure you get one with variable speed. I do free lance work if you get feel like its too much to tackle by yourself. "have buffer will travel"
