I been fishing and throwing a castnet for years. Today I saw a guy holding it in his mouth to throw. I instantly felt sick lol. I can't see myself putting the net in my mouth after its been in the water a few times. Does anyone else use this method?

Several of the instructional videos on youtube about throwing the larger castnets teach that method. I don't do it, but lots of people do I guess.

Used to in Florida, with big nets, won't around here, too much junk in the water now. I can see it being used in clear water in FL, but brackish saltwater no way. I haven't thrown a big net in a while. I stick with my 3.5 bigmouth I don't need a ton of bait just enough to let a few rods sit.

A few people use that technique when throwing big nets. I normally throw a 7' radius net and when I bring it up, before I grab the weights, I fold the top of the net down a foot or two. Its the same as throwing a 4' net that way. The weights still open the net fully. You might have to add a little spin. Try it.

I only throw a 4 or 6 footer, don't remember the exact size now. On a good day, one or two casts has you in bait for a couple days, let alone one.
Back in Florida, I had a 22 footer for netting eating sized mullet, and a 20 footer for baitfish. I also had a boat then and used a lot of injured live bait as an enhancer to chumming.

It took a lot of practice, and for quite a while I was the TACO tossing king, but after getting the hang of it, it wasn't too bad. It just took so long to set it up, hanging half of it off of your shoulder and everything else involved. They were very heavy, after tossing that thing a few times you were ready for a break.

I do! I am a tall midget so when throwing a 7 foot it helps. Used to throw a net 200 times a week that way with no issues. And everybody knows there's nothing wrong with me.

You should start off gradually, just touching it with your tongue once per week, and gradually work your way up to holding it in your mouth for up to an hour several times per week. You will then be able to take a sting ray hit and only suffer from the pain of the physical penetration of the barb, but suffer no ill effects of the toxins of the sting ray.
