I broke the reel seat on my favorite rod this past weekend. It was a multi-purpose rod.It was an old rod, but damn I hope things get better! Right now I feel sick about it!

That's why I'm taking the yak out to Fairfield this weekend! Might even get a chance to catch a huge redfish(it was stocked with redfish)

If you watch Honey Hole from Fairfield, Bill was dragging a Carolina rig across the bottom on points near the upper end of the lake. He said fishing was tough. But they are still biting and the bites he had were all quality bass. And it was just filmed a few weeks ago.

Yeah I saw that episode. Another guy from the forums went last weekend and caught 20 bass and a 31" Redfish! Weather is looking good for this weekend too. Well Saturday anyways

I also wont be fishing anywhere close to where he was fishing we will be towards the south end of the lake closer to the hot water discharge. Also have an advantage being in the kayak. I've heard the bass like to hang out way back in those reeds where the big boats can't go. I've also gotten a few spots from some buddies on where to go out there. I think we will do pretty good.

Nathan, it's been a few years but I used to fish tournaments and we fished Fairfield when it was snowing. I had to rub Vasaline on the rod guides to keep ice from forming. It works!!! When fished the reeds and grass by the hot water discharge. Tore them up!!! Good luck down there!!!

Hey guys, there has been a time change for Opening Day at Joe Pool on the 15th

Start time is at 11 am and we're going to 4 pm.

Superpots are 5 hours, and the park closes at 4:30. Russ moved it to 11 to allow us time to fish

Damn...I'm out then. I have something going that afternoon. I was thinking all along it was a morning tournament.

We usually do afternoon tournaments while the weather is still cold. Bite is better later in the day on cold days is the reasoning. ALso if the park closes at 4:30 are we going to have to go off site to do the "weigh in" because it almost always takes longer than 30 mins to measure everyones fish. Then again it could be one of those days where not a lot is measured.

From what I gathered, the front office closes at 4:30. I have decided to keep it only 4 hours rather than changing things and making it confusing. We will start at 12

The park is open 24 hours a day. So we'll have plenty to time for the weigh-in. Well, length-in, I should say lol.
