That's one hell of a paddle, best to drive over there. If you're new to Texoma stripe bass, fishing with "paddling oars" will be a good start. You have a better than average chance of catching or seeing a giant being boated with him. I think he's going to be out there overnight and fish the Sunday morning also.

I'm driving from Melissa. Was wondering how much longer of a drive it would be for me. It would be worth it to learn from you guys.

You're all more than welcome. You don't want to paddle from Highport to Cedar Bayou. But we aren't 100% sure we're going to do Cedar Bayou again on Sunday. We will announce the launch site for Sunday when we get back tomorrow afternoon. If we don't do well tomorrow at CB we might scout another spot and do that Sunday. It will also depend on the wind forecast. Cedar Bayou is much more protected from the wind than Highport based on the WSW and SW predictions we're seeing now. Cedar Bayou isn't a very far drive from Highport, maybe 20 minutes?

15-25mph tomorrow will be no joke, so if you guys come with us be sure to bring a drift sock and/or anchor and some waterproof clothing. You will probably get a little wet. If you're new to kayaking, the spot we're going to has the river channel near the bank, so we'll have access to deeper water while still being able to hug the bank to shelter from the wind. But the wind on a lake as big as Texoma can get hairy. Not trying to deter any of you from coming, just come prepared. We'll all be there to help out also.

If you want to try striper fishing, this is definitely a good weekend to do it. It can be tricky to find them this time of year, but when we do, every report I'm seeing is saying they've been struggling to find the small keeper fish. Everyone's catching too many overs. That's a problem I'm looking forward to having. woot

You can Google map on your phone or computer "Cedar Bayou Marina" and it should tell you how far. I'm not sure where Melissa is so I can't help, sorry. Paddling oar's is a pro, definitely worth a little more of a drive. thumb

I've seen some good intel on getting some action in coves with this warm-up lately. Be sure to take some sassy's or better yet, one or two of these.... TRUST me on that one....
