Just throw the spool in the floor and start reeling.

Similar to a pencil, run an arrow through the spool and place between two chairs with the backs of the chairs facing you as you reel. Keeps the spool in place pretty good.
Can't we all just get along....

Do you have to take the reel off the rod everytime when using the Berkley Spooler?

....run the line thru the pages of a good size closed phone book - works great.... I have never tried this so I am curious. Do you ever worry about damaging the line by all the friction created doing this?

The water trick works well, used the bait tank out on the salt plenty. Just keep tension on the line as it enters the reel with a thumb & forefinger

Went to Ebay spent 65 bucks on a heavy duty one. The service spools kept breaking the Berkley ones. made from heavy iron powder coated and heavy.

I leave the spool in the box and make sure the line does not touch part of the box while spooling. Very easy.

I slip a long drill bit through the spool, put it between my toes and lay down in bed and reel in. Quite comfortable. And I can control how tight the spool is with my toes.
