This was probably covered somewhere in the 35 prior pages, but I didn't find it. What is a Soft Reset and how and when do you need to do it? Also I think I read somewhere that you should set your "Ping Setting" lower than the max. Why do you need to do this and how is it done? I don't have my boat with me right now, but if I remember right the last time I tried to adjust the Ping Setting the unit wouldn't let me. I have two HDS 8s Gen 1 with LSS 1 connected by either cables. Thanks

Others in here know more about sonar than me but I like to keep my ping speed at max. I adjust my scroll speed to try to match the speed of the boat.

My question is about Range. The manual does not go into enough detail on this.
How should it be set if I never fish deeper than 50 feet? I really just want it on auto for surface to any depth. I can only get it to do auto with some selection of a depth. Is there not an "auto" without a set depth?

I found the answer at BPS. Just set it at 60Auto.

How do you get the distance from the boat to a waypoint to show up next to the waypoint I had it working at one time. I know how to get a humminbird to do it and at one time my HDS 8 did it but I have no ideal how I did it. I like to anchor off the fish so I set a waypoint and then like to watch the feet to the waypoint and cast to the area it just a little box next to the waypoint.

Hmmm, not sure why the shortcut doesn't link to the page? Copy & paste to the browser.

Just got a new unit, before I just had a little piraña unit.

Watched vids in u tube and have some idea what I am seeing, fish, brush and weeds

But what's this? I thought bait but it went in for 1/4 mile on a 30 acre pond

The pond is connected to the trinity so has all the fish the trinity does

Anyone have an idea as too how long you could run a HDS Touch 7 off a 10.5 Amp Hour battery. Looking at getting one and just wondering about run time.

Metal or glass boat? Inhull or transome mount transducer?

Per Lowrance website, the HDS7 Touch consumes 12 Watts, so...

Unit current draw = 12 Watts/12 Volts = 1 Amp

then, run time = 10.5 Amp-Hr/1 Amp = 10.5 Hr

Note: all these units act up if the voltage drops below specs!!!

I have an hds 10 with lss1 transducer
What's the easiest way to make the transducer stop making that ticking sound even when the unit is off?

Lowrance transducer exchange program. No longer will customers be required to send their transducer in for a swap out. Under the new program the customer will:

1) Upon purchase of a qualifying Lowrance sonar system, the customer can receive a promotional code from Lowrance Customer Service (800) 324-1356 that will be entered into the Lowrance eCommerce site. http://store.navico.com
2) This code will allow the customer to purchase a new transducer for their product at 50% of retail, without sending in the transducer their Lowrance product shipped with.
a. Customers must also enter their unit’s serial number into the eCommerce site.
3) The purchased transducer will be shipped to the customer’s supplied address.

This new program will allow customers across the United States to always get the correct transducer they need for their Lowrance product. Under the new program, they will not need to mail in their Skimmer® transducer that shipped with their Lowrance product; therefore they will also have a back-up transducer. In addition to being able to keep their original transducer, the customer should also expect faster shipping and delivery times.
