It's a little bit far from dallas, but considerring what you got, worth it! Do you all wear regular wader? Any risk? Yes, we all wear waders and yes, there is always risk. My typical dress this time of year is sock liners, wool socks (the good kind - high merino content), sandals or wading boots over the wader booties, thermal or fleece bottoms, breathable waders, thermal top with fleece jacket or pullover over that and if windy, maybe a rain type jacket over that, neck gaiter or balaclava. I still haven't quite figured out what gloves work best.....I have some of the bass pro neoprenes but don't find they do anything but interfere with trying to do stuff.

Dang, I'm going to have to take a break from duck hunting to get back out there with you guys. How long does the dead stick season usually last?

Hey bird, The general rule of thumb is water < 55 degrees. Usually well into March and then the fish start moving for spawning. A lot depends on the rains and whether they are warming rains......but we have a good couple months ahead of us. This guide is one of the more well known "deadsticking" guides.....you can read through his reports and get an idea what techniques work best in what months. http://www.texomajon.com/reports.php
