I have had all of my insurance with State Farm for my entire life and they have always been great, I can't beat the prices anywhere! After years of boat insurance, I have made two claims over the past 2 and 1/2 years and they cancelled my boat policy. If I could match the rates with all my other insurance I would definitely switch completely...

Same with me. Call your agent and they will get it re instated for you. They don't want to lose all the other coverages you buy. My agent did, but I had already switched to Farmers/Foremost. Ended up with better coverage at a savings.

Google "VGW Insurance". They're in the Dallas area. I shopped around at different companies for 7 or 8 years before my mortgage broker for my new house told me about them. They were crazy cheap. They get quotes from 7 or 8 different companies and let you pick the coverage/price you like best. Saving me hundreds every year.
I have no comment on their customer service, since I haven't had a claim with them.

bad agent. what a shame. I would only deal with the main 3 off the forum. Dillon Lee (farmers), Bob L, or Karen (state farm).

They drop you on the 3rd claim.
I got dropped too...several years ago. They may have gone to 2 claims since then.
BAD THING IS....when you go to get new insurance it shows you have been dropped...and your new price will be higher! Such a racket!
RM, I had an agent who helped me out a LOT....but she had her hands tied on # of claims. Adjuster made those decisions...if I remember correctly.

Been with State Farm forever it seems. Had two boat claims within a year and got a letter they would cancel if I had third claim. Been lucky I haven't had another claim. Paid a boat premium for almost 40 years and use it twice and get this kind of treatment. I had this same thing happen with homeowners when the kids kocked out our neihghbors window with a baseball. Insurance fixed it and yep, same window got knocked out again next day!!! Insurance fixed and got another threaten letter. Yes, we did stop the baseball games in the backyard!! Called agent and let them know I was OK with their marketing department. But they would not cancel one part of my insurance. If they did I would cancel the rest! He said he would talk with home office. If your agent won't come to your defense, you need to get a different agent as they have some local say in these instances.

State Farm for me has been great paying off promptly and fully.
But if I began having more than 1 claim within a short period of time, I'd certainly statistically have become a higher risk and so would expect to either pay much higher rates or be canceled. Their rates are highly regulated, and if they don't limit coverage to risky customers, we all would have to pay much higher rates.

I am going to talk with my agent and see if they will re-instate my boat policy, like I previously stated I cannot beat the prices anywhere and I have called and been quoted.
I have had 3 claims total in 16 years with State Farm, I think this should out weigh the possibility of losing me completely!

The State Farm Agent I deal with lives here where I do and fishes the same lakes and has a bass boat also. So he knows what its like to fish and not just sell a policy. I found the best insurance people to deal with is those that know what its like to fish and just not wanting to write a policy for numbers and money.

Local agent doesn't make much decisions...it's the insurance adjuster who makes the final decision. It's not like it used to be. My agent even told me that.....
I agree...you would think 3 claims in 16 years would be okay.

Talk to your agent... I am one of those fishing agents. Apparently I do not fish enough since I seem to be having trouble catching fish lately.

If I could match the rates with all my other insurance I would definitely switch completely... I had State Farm for over 30 years when my car was broken into and they refused to cover the losses because my agent had changed my home owners policy to a dwelling only policy. I dropped them like a hot rock and beat their rates too.

I have had my home, autos and boat with State Farm since 1981. Have never had a problem one. Back in 2009 I bought a new boat and my yearly rate was real high so I elected to have Bob get me coverage that ended up being half of what I was paying with State Farm. In 2012 I hit a floater and had to make a claim and I found out why the rates were cheaper...because the insurance company was also CHEAP! I had to threaten a law suit before they paid up and then they sent me a cancellation letter. No problem, I was dropping them. I ended up going back to State Farm. In the past 32 years I have had to boat claims with State Farm and there was no hassell. Within a week an adjuster responded and immediate action was taken to get the boat repaired. When I switched back to State Farm I discussed the issue I had with this other company and inquired if I could expect a cancellation from SF if I made a claim with them. I was informed that since I had been a long term customer that my policy was classified under a no cancellation level so no matter how many claims I make I never will be cancelled but this does not protect me from rate increases based on risk. State Farms rates are slightly higher but the morale of the story is you get what you pay for. Watch out for discount insurance companies.

I filed a claim around the 1st of October insurance has had the adjuster out two times last time last Saturday and still nothing. When I do find out just what they are going to do I will post what company it is. The money the company is spending having the dealer take things apart and sending adjusters out has probably cost more than the repair.
