I don't know about the best brand overall because it's probably pretty high but the best brand for the money in my opinion is Seaguar Red. It hasn't failed me yet

I only use FC as a leader and I use IZOR FC Leader material! I was not a big fan of FC for a long time then I started using it when guiding for stripers and started getting a few hook ups and cut break offs to pretty much zero! When bait fishing you will get a few overhand knots in the leader and I have never lost a fish to one of these knots with IZOR FC leader!! It has broke when holding the full weight of a 9 pound striper in the air by the leader a couple times and after the same leader has probably caught 20 to 30 fish and might be on its 3rd trip out! This is just my dealings with the IZOR brand not saying it is better or worse than anything else out there but I know it is tuff!!!!

There are a bunch that I have not tried but have been happy with Seaguar InvisX. I like it better than the Red Label. If seems more flexible but it is more $$$$. DO NOT try H2O Express. I bought a reel at Academy and they spooled it with H2O Express for free and it was the worst I have used. I took it off after one trip.
Still looking for a double digit. PB LMB 9.65# August 2012 O.H. Ivie

seguar is the best brand but you need to use not just one of the lines in their product line. Each has its own benifits. Red label has lower stretch and higher knot strength than invisx but invisx cast better. I use red label for all jigs and soft plastics and invisx for crankbaits.

Fluorocarbon vs mono vs braid sure gets a lot of press and I certainly don't know but it's a cold nasty day so I'd like to weigh in. Especially with the success of the Alabama Rig it seems to me the fish attack the bait and aren't deterred by all the hardware. Then I know that most of the time on my home lake when I decide to catfish with a shad under a bobber I catch a lot more bass than catfish. Those bass attack the shad and aren't deterred by the catfish rig which certainly isn't InvisX. Then there's plenty of videos on Falcon where the guides are using heavy braid.
So, it's my opinion that bass hit the bait and everything about braid makes it the best choice. When you're having a bad day you want to think you'd do better with InvisX but I think some days are just better than others and I think you'll feel more bites and put more fish in the boat if you'll stick with braid.

InvisX is what I use. Lots of guys like the sunline stuff pretty well. I've had bad experiences with berkley100%.

I can disprove that fast on a little lake near my home. We have tested extensively and day in and day out we get 60-75% more bites on fluoro than mono. We figure 10% of those bites are due to the increased sensitivity but they other 90% is all due to action of the bait and the line not being seen. I have even had people in other boats throwing the same thing as us and not getting bit ask what we are doing. I have handed them my rod/reel and let them fish for 30 minutes and they all the sudden start getting bit. I used to be like you and use braid on any worm or single hook lure but I have seen the light first hand and now firmly believe in fluoro.
