I purchased a motor mate (transom saver) from tackle warehouse. This thing is awesome, very strong, easy to install. Now I don't have to use that plastic thing that goes over the cylinder or the rubber things that stop the motor from turning while on the road. Very strong, very stable, easy to install.

MINE BROKE! But not bad. The small pin you push to remove or install broke off, looks like a 1/4 inch roll pin, there is one on each side. THEY WILL BREAK OFF! Its not a big problem but you will have to use a key or pin to remove in the future. You have been warned. 225hp Optimax for those who will ask. Other than that ITS AWESOME!

Its not a big problem but you will have to use a key or pin to remove in the future. You have been warned. 225hp Optimax for those who will ask. Other than that ITS AWESOME! For a 250 Merc there are two plastic cups that ride around two mounting bolts on the motor. One of my cups fell off first time out. E-mailed Motor Mate of the problem and they contacted me immediatly, said they have not had problems with the cups because they are pressed on with hydraulics but when I said I needed a replacement right away as I had no backup they overnighted a replacement and only asked that I ship the broke one back in the same shipping box. Great service and my replacement has worked flawless. To anyone still using the old pole style that mounts to the trailer and scuffs all the paint off your lower unit...why? These are too easy and rock solid.

Motormate's are awesome. The immitations just don't stand up. I bet they were so responsive because they don't get many calls on those cups coming out. You do have to be careful to make sure you align those bolt heads up correctly or the pressure of the tilt/trim will jack it up.

Man, sounds like a great device but, if it's that hard to line up, might need some kind of a design refinement. Just my 2 cents Motormate's are awesome. The immitations just don't stand up. I went through 2 swivel ease brackets in 8 months . Both broke on the pipe before the peice that is welded with the cups. The pipe then scratched my lower unit. I love the bracket, buy they need to improve their design!! I have a motor mate now and it seems to work OK.

I've used the Pro Rule with huge success over the years, but on my next boat, that should be delivering in about a week, I'm going to try the "Rite Hite" motor holder. Very similar in design as the Pro-Rule, but this one makes contact correctly no matter how it is installed and the contact point is rubber cushioned and it is made of high impact Derlin composite material. Only $29.99 at Bass Pro Shop! Motor Mate appear to be a great product as well, but I think I'll try the Rite Hite and see if it is durable, especially at that price... Rite Hite at Bass Pro Shop
