Am older now, retired and seems most of the time (body permitting), fish alone.
Launch and recovery is hard and getting harder.
Just added some Easy Step to the trailer, hope that will aid in getting in and out at the lake.
Just curious if many of ya'll fish alone as well?

I fish alone quite often. I usually fish at the same lake with a good launch and dock to tie up to.
During tournaments I usually get a hand from a fellow angler.

You need to find another old fart to fish with.

Good thought but, this old body doesn't co-operate with other angler's schedules! The 'Golden Years'......right!!!!

It's good to see you back on TFF. I fish alone most of the time also. I never really know when I am going to the lake. I may just finish reading the paper and e-mails and decide to go. I too have notice the strain on this old body at the ramp. Hang in there, what else do we have left to do.

I think one of the keys to fishing alone , especially as we get older, is to get real safety conscious. The ez step is good.i have one. Also, my ramp Is pretty shallow, so I put hip waders on to make launching and loading safer. Walking the ttrailer tongue tight rope is for the young! Most important, is life jacket. Let someone know before you go, and think twice if wind is over 20 mph, or thunderstorms are close..my 2 cents..

I'll tell you the best advice for launching. Wait around a few minutes at the ramp and then ask one of us to help you. I'm going to bet there's not a single person here that is going to tell you no if you just ask.

I understand going during the week (and depending on which lake you go to) could make that wait quite long, but at least try to see if someone will show up. When loading up, make your final fishing spot close to the ramp where you can see others going to load and follow them in. Then you know someone will be there to help you.

ALWAYS wear a life jacket. A little over a year ago one of my HS classmates father fell in while working on his motor. None of his family can imagine him taking off his life jacket while on the water, but it was hanging on the back of a seat. His body finally floated up 4 days later.

I fish alone and kinda like it because I can go where I want to go and come and go as I want. I tie a rope to my boat and trailer and unload that way most of the time, Loading really depends on where im fishing at and how I load. Just takes time.
