Went out almost every day this week... Been on some solid redfish over by south bay. Fish are very very shallow and very spooky. I have been using buggs jigs (like a bucktail more like a fly).

Did it again today. Fished alone today and boated 7 reds only kept two small slot fish. Fishing pot holds on flats all fish we seen before they hit the jig.

Great reports! All my fishing stuff is packed and I'll be there in a week. Looking at 6" of snow in my front yard doesn't help.

Hey Harry I see your a fly fisherman. If you need someone for a guide let me know I have a few buddies down here that are great. I don't fly fish much anymore (bad shoulder) but sure like to watch people hook up on the fly.

Thanks for the welcome. First post to the forum but I've been fishing here for a few years. I used to bring fly rods down but didn't hook up with any fly fishermen. Did hook up with spin and bait guys and now just fish the surf with bait and the local flats with a kayak or wading. Fishing 12 months of the year...one of the benefits of old age.

I'll start reporting here once I get wet next week. smile

Went out again today 12-02-13. Found three nice reds a few nice trout and a school of black drum that was huge! Gonna get on them again tomorrow. Don't forget to ask about off season discounts.

Drove up SPI to beach access #5 today and the water was rough, dirty, and the current was pulling hard to the north. Tide was coming in and not even a bite in 2 hours effort.

Fished this morning in the surf 8:30 to noon. It was pretty slow, caught a 5 whiting, 1 small pompano, a gafftopsail catfish (my first ever), 1/2 doz. hardheads and a small piggy perch (I think). Anyway, it is enough to keep me eating for another day. smile

Better day today although most were on the small side. Kept about 40 whiting between the three of us and threw back a few dozen more. Not one pompano or catfish.
