I would go micro guides, not always as durable, but very sensitive. As for brand I have the Qauntum Smoke, guide just broke on it. I have taken care of it, it should not have broken, but I love the rod so much I will probably have it fixed.

Falcon Low Rider 7' Lizzard Drager is the ticket for that price range. Very universal/multi-tasking rod also.

I'm in a similar situation - looking for a jig and worm rod in the 150$ range. Here is what I am considering (decisions...decisions...) 1. Powell 703c or 704c - lightweight and has a lot of exposed blank under the reel. Perhaps the hidden gem in the bunch. Nice price - sale ends today at Angler's Pro Tackle, so go there now if interested. 2. Duckett MicroMagic DFMM69MH-C or DFMM70MH-C - sensitive rod and good prices at River A Tackle. I'm leaning this way. 3. Falcon LFC-5-1610S - I use another XG Low Rider and it felt real comfortable to me. I imagine the fast tip would be more sensitive than the one I have. My wife caught her PB on a falcon ultra-light crappie rig http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...ork#Post9425069), so I have a lot of confidence in the durability. Coachmatt, maybe writing this out has helped me more than it will you. I'm keeping it at 7' max cuz I have a history poking rod tips into all sorts of things and there may be a little less chance of me breaking something. I can't tell how much I really like a rod until I fish it - that's where I weigh in the opinions on TFF.

Klx gets my vote in that price range
I have a bunch of the rods mentioned earlier, the falcons, ducketts etc. IMO the klx is a lot better rod at that price point for a worm rod.

I recommend talking to Ron at Reel Time Rods. I've got one he made for me a couple years ago and I've yet to find anything I like better. I've caught I don't know how many fish on it. Very sensitive and has the right amount of backbone while still having enough give where it needs it. Found out today Rons rods float..No kidding

Switched from Bucoo to Denali Jadewood, then stepped up to Rosewood, and now the new Kovert series. I'll never buy anything else.
