Unfortunately I got tied up and couldn't make it out there this evening.

Hello! I am a beginner at fishing for crappie but interested in learning. Plus I would like to have some for dinner. I have never visted the barge either and would like to try it out. I am thinking about giving it a try tonight, is there a any certain time you would recommend arriving. Any recommendation on jig sizes? Taking my daughter to Bass Pro to see Santa and going to pick up somethings. Thanks for any help in advance and hope to meet you tonight. Sorry about that man I just got up late for work and just got to see the post. Me I like to use 1/16 heads. Red chartreuse lead pink. Then just need to get most of the good color bobby garland. IE. Red green blue thunders, patriot, blk night blk gum and a few more. The only thing that sucks is blue thunder will work to night and the next night they will want the color you don't have. Lol. BigMike, Thanks for the info! Really appericated! I just missed you then because I was there last night from 7 till 10 and only felt a nimble. I didnt see anyone else catching anything either. I'm thinking about maybe trying it again tonight before the cold front blows in. Any opinion on how the fishing is normally before a front? Also, what times do you normally work at night?

We need this cold weather to get them crappie in.......
Its is going to get better in the next few months just hang with it go if you like but at this time they are going to be small. I say this from years not a lot but years of seeing how it works at the barge. I bet the catfish are still ready to get on the pole....

Ya was a little late last night. I work most night but this week I am off I may be there to night for just a min. I work 9:4pm5-6am. Last night around 430 there was one guy there fishing the middle well that got 4 crappie all over a pound. Just out of no where. The AM they got some nice ones too. The fishing should be good just before the cold gets here. But you never know.

The buff and carp doing really good!
Crappie are ok. Still getting small ones and some big boys are coming in.
Cats have moved on. Hope they come back in. Just need to give it time.
