Lol...yeah...I remember a couple of years ago sitting on the shoreline watching the flock of birds catching fish after fish in the center of the pond. I think we only saw one person catching a couple of trout around the pier as well (left side when on the pier facing the water). He was casting from the shoreline to just short of the pier. We were on the opposite shoreline...

The illega... I mean, undocumented Immigrants will drag nets through the water when night falls...

Sominipod's reply is my biggest concern. Makes me wander how many of the Houston area stockings provide as much enjoyment and fun as intended.

Guess next time I head up there (if there is a next time) I am taking my shotgun too to scare off those birds

I've been at the park fairly late...almost midnight on some nights...and I've yet to see anything loggers...the occasional teenagers loitering in the parking lot...but otherwise...it's pretty much empty at night other than one or two other fishermen.

I was there yesterday from Noon to about 3:30 - 4.
The wind gust was brutal at times.

I took the UL setup with me and casted 1/32 oz. jig heads with grubs and fan casted with very slow retrieve.

Not a single bite.

I did meet a nice old man there who was using livers and nightcrawlers.
Unfortunately, he didn't seem to get any bites either.
Neither did anyone else I saw at the park.
There were maybe 4-5 others fishing, including me.

One thing I noticed, there were a few dead catfish along the banks.
I'm not sure what they died from, but I'm concerned.

I might try again, but in the very early morning before sunrise.
I really want to catch some trout (never hooked one before), but I don't want to deal with a big crowd.

try a white rooster tail use the smallest one . that is what I use on the local city park after they stock it. limited out today on it.

To AdanV---On your unsuccessful trip did you get any follows or see any trout? Any fish surfacing?

Nope.

However, I went again this past Saturday afternoon.
I wanted to head there just before sunrise, but got called into work.

I saw a few schools of trout swim close to the banks, but not a single bite.
Probably 20 others out there fishing, but they had no luck either.
After about 3 hours, I gave up, went home to swap out for my bass fishing setup and went to the bayou. I caught 2 bass in about an hour.


I don't think I'll be going back to MJP anytime soon.
My luck there is slim at best.
