I went to DD today again!
Yesterday I did not really do what I want to do at DD: 1. try out my new swimming lures; 2. catch some crappies.
Yesterday I planned to get there around 1pm, so I would have about 45 minutes to try my lure with no generation. The huge traffic jam delayed my arrival more than one hour. So I did not have time to really try the lure out. And on top of that, I spent over one hour to find out where the crappies were. I caught 4, and they stopped biting.
So I decided to go again today. here are some pictures:

My very first cast of my new lure

I am very very very happy with the swimming action of this lure. I also tried the bigger and heavier one, which also has a very very good swimming action. After trying the swimming lures out, I decided to put on another new lure: moon walker, made earlier this summer. See what I caught with it:

After I had enough messing around with bass, I went after crappies, caught 14 of them, 8 keepers:

For some reason, baby sand bass were so thick. I caught about 20 of them, only one keeper size. Most 6" to 8".

No problem! No one will believe that we caught crappies using surf rod. It does take some skill, and you are the perfect man to do it.

Catching crappies at DD is not norm. it's pure luck. I fished at DD for so many years, and that was my very first time to catch some crappies there. One day they are there, next day, they are no where to be find. Yesterday my friend went back for them, but he did not catch a single crappie. So I don't want to mislead you. You have much better chance to catch crappies at local lakes, or creeks.
DD fishing is tricky, generation has lot to do with it. Hope one day we can fish together.

Gary, how did you guys do? Also I got a boat lined up for the flower gardens in Jan. Are you guys still interested in heading out? Think it'll be fun with 2-3 boats on a overnighter. 33' CC
