I am right with all but one leftt handed reel. The left is on my pitching stick. I have at the age of 51 started casting and teaching my body mechanics how to cast with my left when throwing a crank bait and spinner bait when the obstacles in the water allow. Don't judge, but my left casting is not near as accurate as my right, YET!

Just natural for me. Don't even notice it. Can't say I've ever lost a fish because of it either.

Makes sense to cast with your dominant side and reel with your dominant side--especially if you use moving baits most of the time. I'll relearn it all and have a fire sale on my gear if my right thumb ever falls off.

I use both hands on most casts. I'm left handed so the cast is on the left side unless I have to cast cross handed from the right for some reason. I reel with my right hand. Always done it that way. I can cast with either hand but I prefer to reel with my right.

Cast right handed and reel right. Now with spinning I cast right and reel left. Been doing that since I was 3 so guess that's where it comes from.

I cast right and reel left. I can not reel on the right side and am right handed. Same here. My son is lefty and casts left and reels right.

I cast with both hands for accuracy, right hand on top, then just move my Right to reel, to prevent fatigue later on in the day. I become a switch caster, however not as accurate as my 2 handed casts.

I cast righty & reel righty. Often I'll turn the rod & reel upside down so I can start reeling immediately with my left hand (backwards!) if I see/feel a fish biting immediately. Of course once the line is tight & the fish is hooked, I flip it back over again.
Yet with a spinning reel I can cast righty & immediately reel lefty. Bet I could learn to reel lefty in no time with conventionals, eh?
Ain't habit a funny thing?

Right hand reels are perfect for a left handed person. Finally something made for us lefties. LOL
BTW why do so many rod makers put the hook keeper on the left side of the rod since the majority of rods will have a right hand reel on them. With it on the left side the bait is always between the boat and the rod if you lay your rods down with the handle up. I would put the keeper on the bottom of the rod if I made them.

I'm left handed. Right-cranking reels were made for ME!

no. Even though I'm right handed I have found it is a waste of time and motion. Better to get a left handed reel.
