The guide supplies the boat, fuel, rods, bait, tackle, knowledge and experience. For a fee, of course.
Assuming the guide puts you on fish...I wouldn't be so inclined to tip if I left the lake empty-handed...do you tip?
What is a common/acceptable tip for a successful fishing experience?
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!" ― Hunter S. Thompson

Yes. Tip 15-20% depending on services. This is pretty standard. I know some people dont feel like they should tip. If you dont want to tip your not gonna upset the guide. Although you might leave him wondering if he did something wrong.

Always have tipped @ 20%. They work hard for the money. Now over the years have only had two bad experiences and on those days did not tip.

Damn I feel like a jack [censored]. I never have tipped. I went with a guide for the first time three years ago with my uncle and dad, they're both cheap and when I asked if we should tip the guide they said something along the line of "Hell no, we just paid him good money." Never thought about it, may need to schedule some trips with past guides and tip extra to make up for it.

I usually just give them some timely advice and a few suggestions for their future endeavors. Of course you should tip them, the work darn hard for their money. If you own a boat you know just how sweet of a deal you are getting.

Tip, almost all the guides I have fished with work hard for their money.

Most of the people I take out tip at the end of the day. Some do not and that is OK, too. Of course, I prefer a tipping customer.

If their rates are in line with the " industry or lake standard ", TIP, if the guide goes the extra mile after he/she has completed the pre-set time and goes after big or #'s then a tip is rule of thumb.

Some guides call their pet fish in to catch. Or they call them with big banging sticks. That being said; yes a tip is customary. They base their price on fuel, tackle & time. It's just like good service at a restaurant, if you get excelent service you reward the server. Unless you are a cheepskate.
