Right here is a fine place to talk about bowfishing. We need more folks to do it to get rid of invasive species like the common carp.

It's just a myth that you can't post them in the carp section. They enjoy seeing them.

I think it's bullcrap that you can't have a bowfishing thread without the haters or carp huggers ruining it. Bowfishing is 100% legal and is very very fun. Why can't we get a bowfishing section up here for us to all talk bowfishing together????

Ibtl! Btw I agree with you 100%. Its a type of fishing. Anglers of every species have to deal with people killing their target species but guess what we get over it!

So what's up with that??? Why are you against bowfishing? Heck the way your holding up that big bluecat is bad for it yet no one is telling you different! People need to remember that you don't have to like everything but the more we all fight between ourselves the worse it makes the situation. Carp and buffalo and gar removal is good for sportfishing. I just don't understand why people grip about it sooo much.

You may post pics and talk about bow fishing in the Freshwater Fishing section only. Having said that, do not post pics of wasting any fish that are shot since that is illegal.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me or any other mod

Quantum pt - There are some people that insist on forcing "their" morals on every one. If our favorite sport does not meet their idea of "right" then we must be abolished.

Haters gonna hate, no matter how hard we try to educate them on the benefits of bow fishing.

Maglite, the griping about it may have something to do with the fact that some guys wantonly waste what they shoot and then post pics of that nonsense. This is illegal to do and I will be the first to pull such a post. However, if you want to have a civil discussion and post pics, it is allowed here. Just keep it between the lines.

Personally, I have been bow fishing before for Tilapia and it is a blast. Great tableware too.

I agree Steve! As long as the fish are used for bait or food your legal. Like I said I have a turtle farm guy that uses most of mine to feed turtles and to trap animals. There are bad apples in every walk of life and I just don't want to see Bowfishing get wrapped up with few idiots that make us look bad.

For what it's worth, I haven't bowfished but I've bought the Kingfisher package from Cabelas last week and I've been shooting arrows the last few days practicing with it. Amazing how accurate that inexpensive setup is. I can't wait to hit a few carp. Geesh from reading this forum for so many years I was under the impression an additional hunting license was needed LOL. For around 150 or less someone can get out on the water and bowfish with no additional license.

I suspect for lakes like Lewisville the biomass of rough fish compared to game fish is very high. I've hardly ever seen anyone target carp from a bow or a rod and reel all of years I've fished this lake. It's really an untapped resource.
