Lets hear it! What is everyones favorite things to do when prefishing before a tournament? How do you prepare and go about your fishing day during practice? Fast? Slow? Thorough?

Catch one or two and move on to the next spot. Burning a hole is a bad deal.

Depends on how familiar I am with the lake, what time of year, etc... I usually try to avoid sticking any fish if possible, especially on lakes I know well.

1) Prefish - don't catch fish. 2) Return on Tournament Day - don't catch fish. 3) Repeat all year.

How hard is it for everyone to feel the bite and then not set the hook? I have a hard time doing this, what i usually do is catch one or two and mark the spot and come back to it. Hoping that I have a handful of spots to try and catch them if theyre still there.

I disagree, its easier to get checks when everyone else is sticking their fish....

Taking 5 to the weigh-in occurs when opportunity meets successful execution of one's preparation.

I try to do stuff that I normally wouldnt do. I look for fish that arent on the regular baits for that lake.

All I really try to do is figure out if they want it moving or want it soaking.

If I don't know the lake well I pick a promising area of lake that has the type of structure I think will hold fish for that time of year. Then I pick apart that area first with electronics if I'm looking off shore. Then go back to areas with slow bottom baits to get a feel for bottom. Then I try and catch some fish. Lakes I know well if I have more than one day I usually devote at least half a day to trying out of the box stuff and new areas. Rest of time depending on time of year I pick my faviorate areas and start shallow to deep(spring-post spawn and some fall) or deep to shallow (summer-winter-post spawn-fall) I try to always systematically fish an area. I don't like to jump around. If u know the area or creek u are fishing has fish then stay and find them. Summer and fall time is only exceptions when fish move more follow bait
